AETEN II - Home of Jen'Jidai
For a full explaination of what Jen'Jidai is and what they stand for, please see that individul entry. This information about the planet is relevant only to the era of centered around the Treaty of Coruscant(3653 BBY).

Current History
An obscure volcanically active rock of a planet, it is known primarily for its stygium crystals. The crystals find their primary use as lightsaber crystals, giving a Jedi increased stealth and dexterity. For the past 10 odd years, Aeten II has served as the home base for a radical Sithist sect calling themselves Jen'Jidai. The planet serves not only as their military base-of-operations but also features an Academy founded, fostered and staffed by Jen'Jidai. Their primary compound is located not too far from the settlement known as Arete.
Common Knowledge
This is information which can easily be discovered by any who land on the planet and spend some time in the Crystal Cantina. Jen'Jidai is not concerned about secrecy per-se. Some may call this arrogance, others might consider it negligence. Regardless, the reletively non-secretive nature makes it somewhat easier for new wannabe members to hear of them and make their way to them.
Economy
Not surprisingly, the economy of the planet centers around their crystal mining operation. Prior to the arrival of Jen'Jidai, the standing supply orders provided low to modest income. Their willingness to trade to both the Republic and the Empire served as a boon to this economy.
After claiming Aeten II for themselves, Jen'Jidai leadership expanded the orders by brokering a deal with Core Galaxy Systems (CGS) shipbuilders. This deal was based on a rumor of the company's attempt to develope a cloaking device utilizing the properties of the crystals. Seizing the opportunity, leadership tipped off CGS competitors and now Aeten II has several lucritive contracts with major shipbuilders. As a result of these deals, life for the miners has improved a bit and so they support the efforts of the sect out of self-interest. From the income, Jen'Jidai has built a Sith Academy and actively recruits new students of all ages as well as new members who prove their mettle.
Military
There are two main military arms under the Jen'Jidai leadership. One branch is composed of non-Force-Users under the umbrella of the Cardinal Syndicate. Within the Cardinal Syndicate is an elite Mandalorian group known as Clan Blood Shadow. This branch reports to their Admirals.
The other branch is composed of Force-Users. Whether they be fallen Jedi, rogue Force Use traditions, formally trained Sith, or students graduated from their own Academy, Jen'Jidai will accept those who pledge allegiance to the goals and missions of Jen'Jidai. The members of this branch look to their Lords for orders.
Both branches report to the Order's Masters and Founders Darth Drahl and Darth Xen.
The primary goal simple: destroy Jedi where ever they may be, and destroy the Republic Forces where ever able. Any who oppose this mission are not tolerated. Despite these grand visions, they are still a relatively small group with limited scope of action. That, however, may soon be changing...
Politics
Within the Settlement of Arete, things are run by a quartet of men: Boss, Portman, Foreman, and Serg. Each handles a different aspect of the life of the miners with Boss being the sort of mayor. For the most part, Jen'Jidai leaves Arete alone on the theory that "if it's not broke, don't fix it". As long as Boss and his immediate subordinates keep things running smoothly, they are left to it. Monthly reports are sent back and forth between the Adminstrations to ensure all information is up to date and there are no problems brewing.
Within the Jen'Jidai facilities, there is a similar breakdown with the Mother/Father heading up the Academy and different heads for each of the primary facilities (Spaceport, Dorms, etc). All of these leaders report monthly to the Inner Sanctum who have the final and ultimate say in how things are done and what gets official approval.

Highlights and HotSpots
Stygium Mines
While there are potential mine sites all over the planet, the volcanic nature of the planet makes many of those sites not only dangerous but also unpredictably present. One of the few sites which is more stable, at the present time, is located about 5 miles to the northwest of the small settlement of Arete itself.
Mining Settlement of Arete
For a full write-up of the settlement, see that entry.
All trade moves through the enlarged spaceport within Arete. The spacers, pilots and cargo haulers sent to Aeten II to pick up their crystal shipments for the shipbuilders often visit the Cantina located a few miles to the east of the settlement while they wait for their ships to be loaded and refueled.
Perfect Crystal Cantina
Located halfway between the Arete and the Academy compound, it was one of the first buildings commissioned and was built specifically to give the spacers, miners and the Jen'Jidai members someplace neutral to enjoy a social drink. While the Cantina is not particularly luxurious or even clean, it is a very popular place. Violence against those with economic business on the planet is not tolerated, and violence against the miners who support that business is also deeply frowned upon. There are 2 doors, one facing Arete and the other facing the Academy compound, allowing for easy access and exit. Food is not served, though the selection of alchoholic beverages is surprisingly varied and of good quality. The bartender is a droid, and there are three serving wenches on duty unless violence erupts at which point they wisely scatter. The military presence seems small, unless someone does something incredibly stupid at which point they find out just how wrong they are. This offers a more vivid description of the facility, which is open to all.
Jen'Jidai Facilities
There are a number of buildings that support the various activities of the Sect. Each serves a specific function, and while the details and secrets of each building are not widely known, the general purpose is. They are listed here in the order in which they were built.
The "Palace"
When Darth Drahl and Darth Xenith first came to this mining colony in 10 BTC, they made a dwelling just east of the settlement. It served as temporary housing for the brothers until The Academy could be built. The small hovel is still left standing and serves as the centerpiece of the compound. Some whisper that Quygo's spirit has taken up residence in the small dwelling...
Jen'Jidai Sith Academy
This is the heart and soul of Jen'Jidai, focused on training future soldiers in their growing army. Founded in 9 BTC, with the initial section was begun at that time, perched on the ledge above a stable canyon. The second largest structure on the planet, it has been continously under construction since inception. Its first graduate was in 5 BTC and it has been growing in strength, diversity, and quality through the induction of new teachers and all they offer. While not related or reporting to the official Sith Academy on Korriban, they do have some ties since the founders of the Academy were themselves graduates of the official Sith Academy.
Education at the Academy
First and foremost, this is a military Academy. Within that model, there are two primary goals -- one is to provide a basic all-around education in matters both of mind and body to instill discipline, and the other is to ensure that those students who are gifted will indeed receive the best of instruction in their areas of most promise. This means the Academy holds all students to the highest common denominator, rather than the lowest. Those who cannot keep up will be educated, of course, but will ultimately serve as Ground Forces in any campaigns. Those who lead the classes and set ever higher standards will be the future leaders and as such encouraged to forever strive for their personal best.
Unlike the Korriban Academy, the Jen'Jidai Academy does not teach on the Master/Apprentice model until a student proves themselves exceptional and a Lord chooses to take a personal interest in that student - be they still an active Student or Adept, or are a Graduate Knight or even Knight Recruit. These are the students who usually find themselves as Floor Monitors or in other positions of peer leadership. One Lord can take as many as six Apprentices, but rarely is such a case seen. More likely, the Students or even Knights, are doing their utmost to get their chosen Lord interested in training them personally. No Lord is obgligated to enter into a one-on-one training relationship with a student, but it is frowned upon to allow a truly gifted student to be turned away.
In addition, the entire focus of the Jen'Jidai Academy is very different than that of Korriban. While Korriban actively works to ensure that only the very best every walk out of its halls, that only the elite worthy of leading the armies are given that chance. Jen'Jidai Academy is modeled more after the various Sith Warrior academies which seek to build an army, a brother of Sith capable of working together to follow orders in order to bring to fruition the goals of the Empire, Emperor, and Jen'Jidai leadership. The two acadamies are not comparable because they serve entirely different purposes, yet both are just as hard and demanding on those who walk the halls.
The Libraries
The Academy has a reasonable Library, often unimaginatively referred to as the AcLi, which is open to all the students. Research papers and the like have to have resources from here to be done, but it's far from an exhaustive collection. There are a few holocrons available, but they are either on general topics or focus on the martial skills.
A far greater library was once to be found with in the Alchemy Lab. However, since the departure of the former Mother Saarai-Kaar Thelxepia, this collection has been split between the lab and the Father Saarai-Kaar Vellic Duranis' private library - while some others were returned to the Academic Library. Many of the most dangerous books as well as those fitting Vellic Duranis' areas of interest were taken - though all alchemy related materials were left within the laboratory library. The laboratory library was once the private library of the Mother Saarai-kaar, but now serves more as a science and alchemy specific library.
Physical Education Training Facilities
There are numerous physical training facilities available for all members. An open gymnasium, a lap pool and several weight rooms form the general training facilities. Students and Adepts have assigned times where they may access these facilities during the day, with special passes being assigned to those who need or want more access. There are even massage rooms available for physical therapy when injuries don't warrant going to the medical bay.
The Fighting Salon, however, is where all the non-firing weapon training takes place. This room offers several instructors who train and provide on the various techniques within all the known schools. Sparring is almost an ongoing thing, either practicing against droids or other students. No personal weapon is allowed to be used in this area. Only the supplied training weapons can be active.
There are also rooms dedicated to providing challenging Force training exercises, along with Force masters available in all the primary areas who's job it is to challenge and expend the seeker's ability to control and recognize the Force in all its manifestations. This set of rooms features a countless array of tools and props which can be used in the many training exercises.
For more specific training focusing in the areas of acrobatics, balance, and stealth, the Cliffside Training Facility was constructed by Vellic_Duranis prior to his tenure as the Father Saarai-Kaar. This facility is located outside of the academy, positioned atop a large cliffside, overlooking lava streams. A series of twenty-six duranium pillars of varying heights (Alternating, some at 10' high with each other at 9' high and one in the middle standing at 6' high) and a standard 1' width stand, overlooking the edge. Four rows of five, with the shortest and widest (at 3' wide) pillar in the very center. A lead pillar stands at 10'x1' at the center-head of the structure. Beside it lies an abandoned mine that winds into the mountain in a series of intersecting tunnels. The location can reach high temperatures and higher humidity as the steam from the lava streams often wafts up over the area - obscuring vision.
Weapons which can be fired, either firing projectiles or energy, are trained in the outdoor area. Munitions of all types are available, and the instructors take delight in those who fancy themselves "experts" because it gives them a chance to see how amazingly difficult they can make their practices.
Recreational Facilities
Even the most dedicated, hardnosed student or member has to have some down time where they can relax outside of their room. Within the Academy and Domiciles complex is a large space near ground level dedicated to general recreation. There are all manner of tables, chairs and even couches available, as well as holoprojectors, holochess, cards, and other such games and game supplies. All games and supplies present serve two functions: one is to provide a bit of diversion, the other is to challenge the players strategically. Holochess is the perfect example of this. Other activities promote competition outside the combat arena.
The room is mainly a large space with chairs and tables arranged to create virtual partitions, but the chairs often get dragged around to accomodate various activities. Young students have their own area, as do the teenage students. The most open area is available to all Adepts and above. There are some private rooms available along one wall should the general area prove too noisesome for some activites.
Graduation from the Academy
There is no set age at which graduation will occur. Rather, it is left up to the Student to petition for the Graduation Trials. During the petitioning process, they are watched and assessed for worthiness both of individual traits but also of completeness of basic training. If they are deemed worthy to graduate, they are called before all the assembled membership, where it is announced that the Student will undergo their Trial of Graduation. The Rite Master, a wookie, paints a pre-tatoo design on the hopeful before all assembled. This process is reportedly quite painful due the nature of the ink; crying out is automatic grounds for discontuation of the Trial. Once the tatooing is complete, the hopeful is then whisked away to undergo the actual rite.
The Trial is individual to the student, designed to fully test their skills and appititudes. Survival is not guaranteed, though death is far from the goal. If the Trial is passed, they once again find themselves before the entire assemblage, where the painted pre-tatoo is fully activated, searing itself into the Graduate Knight to become his first Badge of Rank. The tatoos are different from person to person, not only in style and position, but also eventually in color and texture. Some say that the color and texture are expressions of the individual's connection to the Force, which is why they are so unique. While full Graduates do not get special priviledges once awarded the rank of Knight, the expectations are higher for them than they are for regular recruits, so they tend to be awarded volunteer assignments first.
A Graduate Knight as well as Knight Recruits and any above are free to take any classes at the Acedemy that they wish. They may also use the facilities, such as the gym or weight rooms, any time they choose. Gifted Knights and above are strongly encouraged to teach classes, sharing their skills and expertise with others.
Some Knight Recruits have expressed an interest in proving their mettle and loyalty to Jen'Jidai by going through the Trial of Graduation. This is not possible; only Students have that right. A new Rite of Membership is being devised, similar but the tattoo marking will be less and more formulaic than the distictive, extensive, individualistic ones of the Graduate Knights. Once this Rite is fully fleshed out, it will be included here.
The Domiciles of Flame
These are housing structures for the members of Jen'Jidai, though the quality and size of the rooming facilities supplied does tend to reflect the status of those members. They were built starting 6 BTC and have been added to ever since. For the first couple of years, they were just called "The Domiciles", but due to how hot the housing structures could get inside, many of the Cardinal Syndicate started calling them the "Domiciles of Flame", and the name stuck.
The Domiciles and the Academy are connected via covered tunnels, and though these tunnels can get exceedingly hot, they are protected from the sometimes deadly volcanic gases released into the atmophere and the occasional falling ash.
Member Living Arrangements
All members of Jen'Jidai, from Student to Lord, live within the Domiciles. As one moves from Student/Adept to Knight to Lord, or from Student/Cadet to Captain to Admiral, there is a corresponding improvement in the living arrangements. These assignments are purely a reflection of one's standing within the group and is un-influenced by the monetary contribution one may make upon arrival. There is no rule against off-planet housing, of course, but when on-planet all members are located with the Domiciles.
The Student/Adept/Cadet level members are the lowest ranking. They are housed in the upper level floors of the Domiciles, where unfortunately it's also the hottest because heat does rise. There two people per room, and all floor mates share two bathrooms which do include basic showering facilities. One bathroom is on each end of the hall. There are no kitchen facilities as all members are expected to eat in the Cafeteria within their appointed times. A Floor Monitor is chosen from the gifted students of that level to police and enforce rules.
The Knight/Captain level members are located in the middle floors of the buildings in an effeciency or studio style apartment. Each apartment does contain its own bathroom as well as small kitchenette, though the Cafeteria is open to Knights and Captains whenever they wish to partake.
The Lord/Admiral level members get the bottom floors, each assigned to a one-bedroom apartment with a bathroom containing a bath as well as shower and a full kitchen. As always, the Cafeteria is open to Lords and Admirals should they wish to join in the common area, but in-room service is also available should they wish to dine in their own quarters.
Cafeteria and Dining
Assuming the majority of members aren't particularly into cooking, the Cafeteria is open all day. Students and Adepts are assigned a meal-time window and they are served whatever is made for that day. Anyone above the Student level can either eat from the daily fare, or choose something from the menu. Please be aware, the menu is different for Knights/Captains and Lords/Admirals. The Lord/Admiral menu is more extensive and offers more delicacy fares than the Knights/Captains menu, but all food is prepared well, using quality ingredients. Specialty menus can be accomodated.
The Students/Adepts are seated in the center of room, at long tressel tables. Ranking members can choose to sit in this area or sit in one of the cushioned and walled boothes which line the walls. There is no table service offered in the Cafeteria beyond having finished custom orders delivered to the table. All members are expected to take their own dishes to the wash room, refill their own drinks (unless ordered from the limited bar available to all above Student/Adept level), and get their own replacement utensils/napkins.
Those who use their in-room kitchens or kitchenettes are expected to do their own dishes and supply their own ingredients.
Kissai Temple of Perfection
The most beautiful, yet foreboding structure on Aeten II is easily the Sith temple. Named after the Sith "priest" class of the ancient people, it is a place where the Sith Lords perform their dark arts and rituals. Students are only allowed inside a small portion of the mysterious structure. As they advance in their training, they are given access to more areas within. Those who are not Sith and not familiar with the ways of the force are forbidden to enter. The Admirals of Jen'Jidai have access, but it is said that they will only enter in cases of extreme emergency.
Mandokarla Spaceport
This is the single largest structure on the planet. When the Cardinal Syndicate swelled in its numbers through recruitment, and after Clan Blood Shadow among its elite forces, the Admirals of Jen'Jidai knew they had seriously outgrown the original Jen'Jidai specific-spaceport. In 7 BTC, the Mandokarla Spaceport was built, and it was the first project that was headed up mainly by Clan Blood Shadow, thus the Mandalorian naming convention. Mandokarla is translated as "the right stuff; showing guts; a state of being the epitome of Mando virtue". Mandokarla is used primarily as a military spaceport for Jen'Jidai. The Arete Commercial Spaceport was left for the mining community and all commercial traffic, although there are very few hyperdrive capable ships among them even today.

Personal Vehicle Policies
Many members of Jen'Jidai own their ships. Those who do have their own personal ship have it moored within a private secure docking bay assigned to that individual. Due to space considerations, no more than one personal ship can be housed within the SpacePort at any one time. If the member has more than one ship, they will have to park it beyond the bay area.
No Student or Adept or Infantry is allowed their own ship. Period. No exceptions. Those students who arrive with their own ship are donating it to Jen'Jidai's general use. When the Student fully Graduates, if that ship is still in service, it will be returned to the Student. No guarantee is made, expressed or implied, on this matter.
Knights and Captains are each allowed the use of one ship within the general Jen'Jidai fleet. There is a ship pool from which a ship is assigned based on the needs of the mission. Lords and Admirals, those who do not own their ship(s), will be assigned a ship from the ship pool.
Should a ship be damaged or destroyed, the individual assigned that ship will be responsible for repaying Jen'Jidai the cost of that ship, whether in literal credits, salvage parts, a replacement ship, or other items in trade for the value of the ship. Be aware, any captured ships and supplies which are donated to general Jen'Jidai use are counted as a plus, offsetting any future damage costs which might occur.
This policy does NOT apply to munitions, armour, weaponry and other small ticket items.
Hukaatir Repository
Built shortly after the Mandokarla Spaceport (6 BTC), the Hukaatir Repository was erected to serve as an armory, munitions depot and R&D Facility, spearheaded by Clan Blood Shadow. The mando'a word Hukaatir is literally translated "to protect, to cover, to shield". Etched above the main entrance to the door are the mando'a words: Sa kyr'am Nau tracyn kad, Vode an. This translates as "Forged like the saber in the fires of death, Brothers all."
The Lab
Only the War Room is a newer structure within the Sect's claimed land. "The Lab" is the former home of the Sith Lord Thelxepia, known more commonly as "The Witch". She conducted her foul classes in this structure of her own design and choose to reside there as well. The grounds surrounding the Lab are strictly off-limits, and those who do not take that warning seriously quickly learn why. It is rumored that if a Student is called to "The Lab" alone, he or she will never be seen again...
These days, absent the presence of the Mother Saarai-Kaar, the Lab has become less of a research laboratory and more of an intructional facility - devoting most of its time to educating the less experienced alchemists. It is headed by Sith Archon Nuo'deme, the top student of Thelxepia before her departure.
War Room
The War Room is a recent addition to the Academy, in 4 BTC, designed so that Jen'Jidai could congregate in great numbers and be briefed with audio-visual aids on upcoming missions or items of import. It serves as an auditorium, lecture hall and military control facility. This domed structure accomodates over 80,000 people within its walls, though it has never been used to full capacity.

Within the Dreighton Nebula, there are two other systems plus the Arah astroid belt. The Nebula is located near the Unknown Regions of space and is a bit out of the way. The three planets within the Nebula are Aeten II, Dreighton (a desert planet), and Imdaar (a swamp planet). These planets form what is becoming known as the Dreighton Triangle. Rumor is starting to spread that ships which blunder into the region are never heard from again, as if the Nebula is a ship graveyard.
Details
The Nebula is an out of the way place. There is a hyperspace lane coming near, but it terminates right in the Arah Asteroid Field, making navigation hazardous. This route is the shortest means to get to one of the secondary routes in the area. This positioning makes Aeten II the most easily accessible location of the planets within the Nebula, and is for that reason sometimes valued strategically.
Key Characters On Aeten II

References and Additions
All references to in-game particulars come from WookieePedia's Aeten II page. In canon, Aeten II is mostly in-action during between 22BBY and 3 ABY with its destruction by the Tarkin superweapon. Since this guild is created specifically for BioWare's SW:TOR game, set some 3600 years before Palpatine's Empire period, some liberty has been taken. The entirety of the Settlement of Arete and Jen'Jidai's compound are additions specific only to group. If anyone would like to reference this information for their own purposes, we would love to hear about it. We are also assuming that all trace of Jen'Jidai's Academy and surrounding settlement have been swallowed by the lava rivers long before the 22 BBY time frame, accounting for there being no evidence of any such activity. In addition, the cloaking devices that the crystals are coveted for in the 0 ABY era have not yet been invented, hence our reference to such devices being in-development.
We are not at all expecting Aeten II to be an in-game playable planet within SW:TOR. This information is purely for role-play purposes, and even though the guild will in-game bases and compounds (assuming the game allows for such), their primary headquarters will always be Aeten II.
