Character
Appearance
Damaya looks far older than he is. As a Miraluka, he has no eyes. This is usually hidden behind a strip of blue cloth used to cover the area his eyes should have been. He wears an old weather-worn cloak, rather than risk being mistaken for a Jedi. Hanging by his side is a light blaster pistol, and what looks to be a control column from a speeder bike.
Personality
Damaya Kooladi is generally happy. Despite all that has happened, he has a positive outlook in life. He is approachable and generally quite talkative when engaged in conversation, but will rarely open up about feelings. The one topic he will openly talk about is the ineffectiveness of the Jedi council.
He does question his place in the Galaxy quite often. He also is of the general opinion that people don't entirely want him around, and are looking to be rid of him as soon as possible. In spite of this, he is often happy to operate alone these days, and reckons he can accomplish a lot that way with less damage to those around him. Ultimately he senses that time is drawing in on him, and that he may only have a few chances left to make a difference.
He has a fondness for Corellian Tea, and for Roast Kath Hound Steak with chips.
He has a low opinion of any bureaucracy, especially the senate and the Jedi council. He feels that there can be good and bad on both sides of the war. Allegiance is determined by lines roughly drawn on a map, you have little choice about what side you are on. It's what you do on your side that determines your nature.
Having had a few run ins in the past, Damaya has developed a slight wariness of Yuzzem, and of battle droids. Probably to do with having been shot in the back by a battle droid, twice, as well as having had a painful fight with a Yuzzem martial artist in a spaceport that had been over-run by pirates! Still his friend, Puk, has changed his opinions on Yuzzem in general, though he is careful to stay on Puk's good side.
Goals and Ambitions
Ultimately, he desires to bring the Jedi who murdered Aurora to justice, but first he needs to identify and locate him.
In the meantime, he has the Sith Lord Zelkin Infinium to stop. If he fails, then all life could end.
Damaya hopes for an end to the War, though he plans to have little to do with the Jedi Order.
Equipment
Damaya carries around his lightsaber, a single silver blade, at all times. It was constructed from the control stick from a speeder, to remind him of when he worked as a used speeder salesman.
Alongside the saber, he will usually carry around his blaster pistol, and had become proficient at using both in combat.
He will, on occasion, carry grenades. He will usually have stun, ion and cryoban grenades, as they tend to be non-lethal.
He also wears a cortosis weave under-robe. This under-robe is designed to short out any lightsaber that comes into contact with it, giving him an edge in saber combat that many Jedi lacked.
Force Powers and Abilities
As a former Jedi Master, Damaya has mastered the following powers and abilities:
Move Object (Years spent training Padawans has allowed him to perfect abilities to move objects.)
Force Sight (As a Miraluka, he sees through the Force.) Farseeing (Skilled at focussing on those far away.)
Precognition (Can tell an opponents moves before they make them.)
Deflect (In a battle, he can use his saber to stop most incoming fire and return it back at the attackers.)
Jedi Healing Trance (Years of battle has left him needing to be able to heal in short amounts of time.)
He has a fair level of ability with:
Battle meditation (The Infinium Conflict forced him to make use of the power to aid the Stormhawk fleet.)
Mind Trick (His time as a used speeder salesman gave him great insight in affecting the minds of the average citizen.)
Negate Energy (In the event of a shot getting past his lightsaber, he can absorb most of the energy, though if too many get through he'll not last long.)
Force Jump / Burst of Speed (Basic training for most Jedi, but considered undignified by Damaya who prefers to walk and climb.)
Levitation (In a calm environment, he can raise himself up through the force.)
Healing (In his early days, prior to being chosen as a Padawan, Damaya had been a trainee Jedi Healer on Alderaan)
He is familiar but not very skilled at:
Force Lighning (He used it once early in his Jedi days when a friend was killed by bounty hunters; never used it again.)
Illusion (Managed to fool his Master into thinking the Jedi Academy was overrun with Gizka! Also made a Rancor believe that a giant Kath Hound was approaching in order to drive it off)
Quotes
"The Jedi Council is about as useful as a Hutt in a relay race."
"You could say I shattered any confidence the Jedi had in me when I told them that the Selkath will take sides in a war quicker than the council can make a decision!"
"Got fired as a speeder salesman as well, turns out using force persuade to sell speeders isn't tolerated on Coruscant."
Background
History
Damaya was always expected to be a Jedi. Miraluka are all force sensitive, and Damaya's parents wanted him to become a Jedi. And so, he was left with a Jedi field hospital on Alderaan that was helping victims of an Avalanche. When he was of age, Jedi Master Savah came along and chose him as his Padawan. For many years, this worked out well, though Savah was a bit of a maverick. Eventually, Damaya Kooladi went though the Jedi trials and became a full Jedi Knight. At this point, he was teamed up with fellow Jedi Aurora Starkiller, and Laria Wenn. The team would work closely with many individuals over the next 20 years, including an Ortolan named Ydde who worked as a chef, a Devaronian named Andorak Memphis who worked as a Special Forces agent, and a Naval engineer named Jensen Bakura who served on the Illustrious Chorus.
The team was split up almost 10 years ago, after a mission to Tatooine ended in disaster; A Noble, who was trying to find out who placed a bounty on his head, was blown up by a high explosive mine that Corporal Memphis had placed. The repercussions of the incident would see that Damaya would never work in conjuncture with the Republic Military again.
The war took it's toll on everyone, Master Savah was lost during a surgical strike against a Sith Shipyard. He found himself hunted by Sith assassins on numerous occasions, learning to mask himself and other force users from their hunting talents.
Damaya's good friend Aurora was a further casualty. On a routine recon mission to Raaltir, she was cut down and killed by a Jedi who had gone rogue. Damaya and Laria returned to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant to report this, and found that while it was concerning, the Jedi would spend no resources in bringing the murderer to justice. In frustration, Damaya ignited his lightsaber and threw it at the main window of the council chamber shattering it. From this day on, a Jedi he would no longer be.
For the next week he looked for other work. His transport had been impounded by the port authorities and there was no way off Coruscant for a former Jedi with no money. He settled on working where is ability could help. He joined a used speeder dealership and began 'persuading' people to buy the speeders. After six months, he was their top employee until the authorities found out. Apparently using the force to sell used speeders is illegal on Coruscant.
Upon leaving, he ran into a disgruntled customer who had bought a Speeder off Damaya which had no manoeuvring jets! His previous speeder had been hit by a lightsaber that he had thrown through the window only a few months before, and the Jedi had 'helpfully' told the man that Damaya was responsible for it!
Hunted by an angry man with a broken speeder, as well as Jedi strike teams out to 'bring him in', feeling he was a potential danger to their hard fought security, Damaya hid. Learning abilities to mask his force presence by spreading it out over a wide area, he managed to stay hidden for the best part of 3 years.
On the run, Damaya ran into an old friend. Ydde was now working in a Cantina on Coruscant.
Maybe things were looking up!
Early Adventures
From the beginning Damaya was out roaming the Galaxy. Master Savah would take him from world to world, helping people, or sorting out the political chaos that often engulfed mid-rim worlds. Eventually his adventures would bring him to the recent colony world of Naboo.
Naboo would be his home for two years. Within months of arriving he had rescued fellow Padawan Laria Wenn from a Sith mind control orb, and prevented a hostile take over of the ruling colony council. Eventually he passed through the Jedi trials and became a full Jedi Knight.
His first mission as a Knight was to assist the Republic military in recovering one of their lost 'Hammerhead' cruisers from a gang of pirates. On the bridge, he rescues a Force sensitive smuggler names Aurora Starkiller. She began working as an honest trader assisting the Jedi where she could; all the while Damaya was training her in secret.
Future missions saw hostile encounters with Xenomorphic aliens on au uncharted world, a rescue attempt for a Republic crew on Nar Shaddar, saving a group of Ortolans from being kidnapped, a bomb attempt at a trade convention, and many other adventures.
His final adventure as part of the joint Jedi-Republic task-force saw him help a young Senator try to locate a bounty hunter named King Fell. The adventure led him to Tatooine, where all was going to plan, until a fighting retreat from a Sand People ambush led them back over an anti personnel mine they had recently set. The explosion injured many in the strike force and killed the Senator completely. After that incident, the team was disbanded and the Republic never requested Damaya's assistance again, banning him from going near a Republic Vessel again.
Damaya, Aurora and Laria, along with an old HK-51 unit named Sir Kit Board and a T4 unit named Fixit, continued operating as a Jedi strike force, using Aurora's ship - 'Rust Bucket 3' as a base of operations. Though the opening of war would give them new adventures, it would also bring added dangers. Sith assassins would hunt them on every world, and there were numerous occurrences of sabotage on their ship.
Then came the mission to Raaltir, and the death of Aurora. Quitting the order would be a hard decision to make, but ultimately would be the right one. Of all the Jedi he had known closely, the war had killed all but one. And that was not enough of a reason to stay in the Order. Laria Wenn remains the only Jedi he will ever trust.

Companions
The Phoenix Dawn
The Phoenix Dawn is Damaya's personal transport. A heavily upgraded Dynamic Mk3 Class light transport, it received numerous upgrades in it's lifetime, most notably onboard the Stormhawk.
The history
Dynamic Mk3 1138-721-4372 "The Fluffy Kushiban"
Upon it's purchase, it was immediately renamed "Shake-down" as a result of it's faulty port forward thruster manifold.
Shortly thereafter, it came under the ownership of the Starkiller family who renamed it "Starkiller 1". For years it served as the family transport and home of the family, until pirates attacked and killed all except the oldest daughter, Aurora.
After years of wandering through the stars looking to take revenge, Aurora boarded a Dreadnought finally planning to avenge the death of her family. There she met Jedi Knight Damaya Kooladi, and the two began a lifelong friendship. The ship became a base of operations for Damaya, Aurora and Laria Wenn as part of a Jedi strike group. It also served as a base for the legendary Altesh Squad, who have now disappeared into the Corellian underground, as fugitives from the Republic government. During this time it was renamed "Rust Bucket 3" as it's age was starting to show.
During the war, it operated under a few false transponders, notably: "Viper's Prize" "Eagle's Lair" and "Century Bonecrusher"
Finally, after the untimely death of Aurora, it was impounded on Coruscant. 3 years later, Damaya liberated it from a high security Impound yard with the assistance of Puk and Setie.
After a series of battles with forces loyal to Sith Lord Zelkin Infinium, it was upgraded on board the Stormhawk. Sensing a change in fortunes, Damaya renamed it "Phoenix Dawn", a new name for a ship that had risen from the ashes of the past into a new era.
Special mention- The Altesh Squad
Republic Commando Special Forces Unit
Captain Smyth - Human Squad Leader - "When a plan forms, I'm happy" Corporal Murr Dokk - Kel Dor Heavy Weapons support - "I think Kathy is going to be mighty displeased if you hurt me!" Bee-Ay - Combat / Repair Droid - "You ain't got no Kath Hound, fool. You just talking to an empty space" Lt. Phaze - Human Scoundrel - "Why do I always get these kind of tasks. Go get a battle tank / find me a battlecruiser / make lunch. Will it never end."
The Altesh squad were the best of the best; capable of doing the impossible. That was until they were found guilty by a Republic tribunal for a war crime in which they had no involvement. Of course, being put on a maximum security penal colony wasn't going to stop them. They promptly escaped into the Corellian underground and began operating as soldiers of fortune.
Whilst they are difficult to contact, they are still the best at completing the impossible.
Description and stats
Phoenix Dawn has a number of advanced features. It manoeuvring thrusters have been extensively upgraded, as has its engines and hyperdrive. Making it the match of any fighter in production.
It has enhanced shields.
It's inner structure is similar to that of most Dynamic freighters, except the dorms are split into smaller rooms for more privacy for the crew. Damaya's room opens up into a small lounge with a forward facing window, allowing him to sit alone and look out upon whatever scene lies ahead.
Quirks
For some reason, even when replaced, the front left thruster is unstable. It is almost as if the fault lies with the computer core and not the assembly. Whatever the reason, take off and landing is always uncomfortable.
Weaponry
Two cannons on the side: one port, one starboard.
Two quad laser turrets: one Dorsal, one Ventral.
One forward torpedo launcher.
One anti personnel docking gun.
Three hidden internal security guns - locations not specified here.
Crew of the Phoenix Dawn
Ydde - Healer
Gorwooken - Pilot
- Puk - Mechanic
Mandalorian Gunners - on loan from the Stormhawk until further notice.
The Droids
Damaya has in his possession, two droids. Both were left with him after Aurora's untimely death.
HK-51 unit, designated 5278-SKB. (Sir Kit Board).
Kit Board is an anomaly. Officially a Hunter Killer type 51 assassin droid by design. Kit Board is almost 200 years old by date of manufacture. Maybe not old by droid standards, but old by the fact that he hasn't had a memory wipe in at least half that time! SKB has a love of fine art and classic Alderaanian and Corellian music, but isn't above blasting through any trouble that comes Damaya's way, much to the annoyance of the former Jedi. SKB does have other personality quirks; it seriously believes it is a 'Lord, and expects to be called 'Sir', hence, usually being called Sir Kit.
T4-FXT (Fixit).
As astromechs go, Fixit is unremarkable. As a mobile tea making facility, it excels. Loyal companion till the end.
Friends
'Hawk' of Hawk's droid shop on Coruscant.
Laria Wenn - Jedi Knight - exiled on outer rim somewhere.
Captain D'Metrius Bratok - Exen Station, independent station near Alderaan
The crew of the Stormhawk
Janelle Fatir
Jedi Master Kertona Jade
Enemies
While classed as enemies, Damaya will seek to redeem them if he is able to, rather than killing them.
Rogue Jedi - awaiting him on Janooine
