Description:

Appearance:

At 5'9" Dehrsin is considered to be of slight stature with a light build, which contributes to his agility, a trait his species is known for. His olive colored skin gives him a drab appearance, especially when adorned in traditional Jedi Robes of tan or brown which is why he often wears more colorful clothing beneath the traditional garb of the Order. There is a weariness behind his eyes that his youthful countenance cannot account for, a result of too much time spent on the battlefield and the lingering grief over the loss of his Master to the Sith invasion.

Distinctive Marks:

Dehrsin has orange colored eyes, a rarity among his species, and knotwork tattoos on his palms and face which are a cultural sign of accomplishment which were given to the young Padawan when he was selected as an apprentice and when he crafted his first lightsabers. The palm tattoos are circular whereas the facial tattoo is "Y" shaped and sits on the bridge of the nose and over the brows.

Force Abilities:

It was a frequent joke among his fellow students that Dehrsin is the one Jedi in the galaxy who could be bluffed at the sabaac tables, as his sense in the force is considered poor, even by initiate standards. Both his ability to sense emotions through the force and the range at which he can sense other beings is extremely limited. His skill with his lightsabers is impressive, though not exceptionally so. He does, however, have a remarkable gift for telekinesis and is considered extremely powerful in this aspect of the force.

Equipment/Apparel:

Because of his drab skin tone, Dehrsin likes to wear more color in his attire than more traditional Jedi. Light blue cloth pants tuck into form fitting black boots with a burgundy undershirt and black overtunic beneath standard tan Jedi Robes.

Personality:

Dehrsin has a sarcastic sense of humor and a sardonic wit that neither he nor his Master were ever able to entirely rid him of. He shows great impatience with unjust or unfair treatment of himself or others and rarely hesitates to speak out about such conditions. There is a solemnity to the young Mirialan borne of his determination to achieve the rank of Knight and thereby honor his former Master's teachings.

Relationships:

Since the death of his Master, Dehrsin's only relationship is a loose association with his homeworlds, mostly a cultural tie and nothing more. Dehrsin's unique circumstances have left him without peers, and even within the Order he often feels as if he is alone.

Goals and Ambitions:

Dehrsin's only significant goal is to prove himself worthy to face the Knight trials and to earn the rank of Knight. He believes that doing so will honor his Master's memory as well as his teachings, and posthumously grant the rank of Master to his fallen mentor.

History:

Back story:

Born on Mirial, Dehrsin was introduced to the Jedi as a young child when neighbors suggested to his parents that his odd behavior might be a sign of force sensitivity. His force sensitivity was confirmed, and he left for Coruscant to begin his life of training and service to the Order and the Republic.

A dedicated initiate, he devoted himself to the wonder of the force and learning as much as he could of its mysterious nature and his own connection to it. He excelled at saber training, surprising his instructors by displaying a proficiency and preference for dual sabers at a rather early age. Upon completion of his initiation he was made a Padawan and began to receive more advanced training in preperation for being selected as an apprentice.

At twelve, Dehrsin was apprenticed to Jedi Master Kor'm Gtil and finally (he felt) traveled away from Coruscant. He was fortunate to have been selected by the seasoned Master, who was experienced in the ways of the galaxy and wise in the ways of the force. Dehrsin devoted himself to his Master's teachings and his ability in the force matured under the elder Jedi's tutelage.

When he was sixteen he crafted his first pair of lightsabers. The design was simple, but solid; an example taken from his Master. The twin blades glowed orange, reflecting the vivid color of his eyes. With Master Kor'm's blessing he returned to his homeworld, his first time back since leaving, and recieved the ritual tattoos that are traditions of culture. To reflect his connection to the force and to signify the accomplishment of having crafted his own sabers, Dehrsin was given matching circling knotwork tattoos on the palms of each hand. Though he knew it wasn't the Jedi way, he couldn't help but feel proud to have earned them.

Brought up by the Jedi in a time of war, it wasn't long before the young Padawan was caught up in the conflict. He experienced the frenzy of combat, the intensity of battle against a ruthless enemy, and the empty sorrow of feeling one's companions fall to enemy weapons. Well into his twenty-first year Dehrsin's Master informed him of his intentions to recommend Dehrsin undergo the Knight trials, as his experiences in the war had been his final lessons as a Padawan.

Before Master Kor'm could formalize the recommendation, he was killed while defending a group of fleeing refugees caught in the crossfire between Sith and Republic forces. Dehrsin was greatly saddened by the loss of his mentor and freind, but surrendered his grief to the force as he'd been taught. He returned to his homeworld and was again marked by his people. This time a three-pointed leaf design in knotwork matching his hands that rested on his forehead, above the brow, and continued down the bridge of his nose. Meanwhile, the Jedi Council, unsure of how best to resolve Dehrsin's status among his fellow Jedi, decided that he would be assigned to another Jedi Master to be evaluated and (hopefully) formally recommended as a candidate for the Knight trials.
