Biography
Early Life
"He doesn't really know when to quit, does he?"
"No, not really."
-Mako and an unknown Anselmi.
Born in Glee Anselm, Jace lived the early days of his life in peace, modesty and contentedness. His mother, Reinn, having died in childbirth, left his father, Mako Kurrano, alone to care for him. Father and son lived far from city life, on the edge of a Wetland, where Mako made a living as a tracker. Here, Jace learned much from his father.
Jace heard many stories of heroics and legends from his father, as he was quite the storyteller. Mako spoke much of his own adventures, having faced the harsh weather of a dry, dusty world; to the intrigue one felt in a world of metal. There stories never left Jaces' mind, as it would "all connect, much later", as Mako once said.
At the young age of eight, he would often accompany his father through his daily treks, learning many valuable skills of self-sufficiency and reliance. The two made quite a pair, Jace's headstrong approach complimenting his father's reserved, cautious nature. During the course of their adventures, Jace developed a penchant for mischief, often playing pranks on his father and his customers.
At some point in his life, Jace was trained in the Noghri martial art, Stava.
Swift change
"Where is your father?!"
-An Anselmi thug.
Jace (around the age of eleven) returned home one day to find his father, simply gone. He waited in their home the entire night, ignoring his fatigue and weariness. In the morning, a group of Anselmi came to their home, asking where Mako was. Not replying, the Anselmi became angry and began to demand. As sudden as the Anselmi entered, a Mon Calamari burst open the door, to the surprise of both the Anselmi and Jace. Both sides engaged in a heated arguement, in a tongue that Jace did not understand.
Ending with the Mon Calamari muttering a phrase, the Anselmi drew their weapons. Jace heard only blaster fire before collapsing from exhaustion and shock.
Jace awoke in room, to the hum of (what he could only connect to) movement in space. Across the room from him, was the Mon Calamari. He smiled, Jace sat up looking at him, angrily. He began to speak;
"You have nothing to fear from me. I am and was not there to hurt, but to help. The Anselmi you encountered were not native from that area of your planet. They were pirates and raiders that my organization sent me to deal with. Sadly, I believe your father was their most recent, but last victim. And for that, I am sorry, I did not mean for any blood to be shed."
The Mon Calamari paused, letting the weight of his words sink. As Jace stared at him, he could sense a feeling of anxiousness and anticipation coming from the Mon Calamari. The Mon Calamari continued,
"You see, the organization I come from is more of an order. An order of knowledge and wisdom. An order of peacekeepers and bringers of justice. The Holy Order of the Jedi Knights." "All connections to your past life have already been severed. With death, new life rises. With your father's tragic demise, your glorious future awaits you. Look out the window..."
Jace sat, dumbfounded. What did this mean for him? Slowly, he rose and peered out of the window. His eyes were met with a green, dense jungle world; teeming with life. A feeling of excitement and adventure swept over him.
"This is your new home. Welcome to H'rrath. Welcome to the Jedi Praxeum... my apprentice."
A New Life
"You are strange, my apprentice, strange indeed... don't ever change."
-Master Niti
The next six years of Jace's life was filled with enlightenment and discovery of the Force. He proved to have much potential, evident by his ability to absorb and retain (quickly) the basic uses and lessons of the Force. Jace had an uncanny, natural feel for lightsaber combat. By the end of his first year, Jace had already touched on Form V: Shien/Djem So.
It was around this time, that Niti had decided he would best serve the galaxy as a Guardian. Slowly, their studies together began to move farther and farther away from the most profound mysteries of the Force, and began to move closer and closer to the more martial aspect of the Force. By the end of his fourth year, Jace was already proficient (and preferred) in the styles of Ataru, Shien/Djem So, and Shii-Cho.
During his time at the Praxeum, Jaces' headstrong, mischievous nature often clashed with varying individuals. It was clear that Jace was very outspoken, and would not hesitate to input his own opinions in a lecture. He had few friends, preferring to be by his lonesome after sessions. Always, Jace yearned for more and more knowledge.
Jace clearly loved his life at the Praxeum, and accompanied his master in their many adventures together. But little did Jace know, that one such adventure with his master would once again change his life...
