Personality
Darth Arcitum was a man of deep seated passions. However, his early experiences as a child drove him into a tightly controlled frame of mind, which allowed him to shelter his thoughts and emotions from the casual probings of others. He kept his own terrors of his past, and his own wild passions tightly controlled beneath a cool facade. Above all, Arcitum feared death. Part of him always wondered at what might come 'after', but another part always grew afraid at the very idea of ceasing to exist. Arcitum had always had a calculating mind, and he used it to help himself survive, however, sometimes his fear could drive him to do foolish acts. Acts that on the moment appeared wise, would prove to be his undoing at a later time. Time and continued success eroded his fears for the most part, and he became more sure of himself and his strategies over time and after the training of Véshkaban. His softening fears allowed him to start indulging in a vibrant curiosity denied him in his youth. This curiosity for the mysteries of the Force, and for pretty much everything he didn't know or understand was a driving force behind many of Arcitum's later subterfuges and investigations. It also led to some rather nasty experimental accidents including one that obliterated the age from his face, creating a youthful, somewhat haunted creation that spoke the evil that had created it. Arcitum does not hesitate to utilize what many would call evil in his efforts to escape death. His views of evil and good are that they are an irrelevant creation of the mind to help create some semblance of order in a galaxy inherently chaotic. Arcitum usually looks to nature to explain difficult concepts as he believes nature reflects the nature of the galaxy and the spiritual as he believes it is only natural to believe the spiritual came before the physical and thus the physical is a reflection of the spiritual. However, these philosophical musings are rarer to a mind instinctively focused on immortality.
Appearance
Darth Arcitum was of a relatively medium height, not given to extreme size of body or muscle. Perhaps the most unnatural part of him is his face, which was disfigured in an experiment regarding the regeneration of skin cells. Arcitum's face is that of a youthful boy, given none of the corrosion of age or scarring of a warrior. This latched onto the body of a aging man, often gives off a sense of horror or twisted evil. His cool, misty blue eyes and straight mouth tell of a hard man, with a callousness born of insufficient care. His posture and walk are born of the warrior's grace. The fluid motion of a man accustomed to battle and the agile forms of the saber. His walk is confident, belying the internal fears, but also bespeaking the casual arrogance of one accustomed to power.
However, much of Arcitum's appearance is concealed behind a barricade of armor, and a stiff, faceless mask similar to those worn by the Sith warriors. He usually adorns himself with a rich, flowing red robe and hood, left open in the front to reveal the armor. Combined this gives Arcitum a fearsome appearance but it hides the true horror of his own face, which he has done on purpose believing in the sudden fright of the unnatural, which one can become accustomed to on common sighting. Arcitum also enjoys the mask as it gives him the feeling of being separate from the world and apart from its dangers.
Relationships
Darth Arcitum would develop few real relations in his time and was mostly regarded as a nemesis by most he met.
Darth Véshkaban
Arcitum's former master was a man he respected and admired. His method of teaching was formulated for building a solid relationship. This was always overshadowed by the mutual belief they would eventually kill each other. Despite this, however, Arcitum would serve and learn from Véshkaban for thirty years even taking his own apprentice with his master's knowledge. Véshkaban was one of the few people Arcitum truly trusted with his secrets and vice versa, each knowing that the death would not come politically but from personal combat. Arcitum would learn many things from Véshkaban and would privately yearn for each lesson his master gave him. Véshkaban and Arcitum both parted on good terms with each acknowledging that it would be best if they did not meet again, as each knew too much about the other. Arcitum and Véshkaban both respected each other and in many ways cared greatly for each other.
Tagos
Kamir would have a close relationship with his brother Tagos before he killed him. The two would share mutual emotions and struggles underneath Kar'no and their early terror at loosing their father would unite them in a way few others could share. Kar'no would attempt several times to drive the two apart, but his attempts rarely succeeded at doing much more than making them a bit more distant. Tagos would be far more emotional and less reserved than Kamir. Tagos would prove to be the stronger of the pair, and with Kar'no's momentary advanced attentions advanced readily, proving a strong potential in the Force. However, Tagos' passions would ruin him when he fell for a woman. This would eventually result in Kamir slaying him, although the action took a terrible emotional price on Kamir.
Kar'no
Kar'no was a Kel Dorian Sith Master who took Kamir along with his brother as his apprentices. Kar'no was an angry Sith, and a proud one. Kamir would frequently regard his master as an adversary rather than a master, and he and Tagos frequently plotted ways in which to foil their master. Kar'no accepted this adversary to some part partly because he hated his apprentices, but also because he knew that it would make them stronger. Whenever thwarted however, he would exact punishments on the duo, which would lead them to hate and fear him even further. When Kamir struck down his brother, it made Kar'no confident enough for Kamir to strike him down.
Savera Ulanti
Ever will you run, ever will you hide, both in the darkness of night, and in the light of day, but never will you be safe, never will you rest, until I release you.
Darth Arcitum had never wanted an apprentice, due to the Sith concept of the apprentice overthrowing the master. He found the risks too great. However, he would eventually revoke this view when he took his niece, Savera Ulanti as his apprentice. He trained her savagely, desiring her to fear him above all else, yet turning her into an effective warrior at the same time. Savera was to be his tool, his weapon, however, she eventually tried to kill him, and he let her go, preferring an obedient and submissive apprentice to one of her fearful, yet murderous disposition. He would continue to hound her, however, driving her from world to world to keep her on edge, and eventually perhaps, wear her down to become once again, his apprentice. If Arcitum ever developed any sort of attachment to his apprentice is unknown.
Cire
No, you were not a slave to me. You were an assassin under my command, a killer who killed upon my orders. You were also a friend to me, in some ways. A friendship, which has been destroyed by the actions of he who destroyed your memories.
It is unknown exactly when Arcitum first happened upon the Sith Assassin, Cire, however it is suspected she was his primary assassin. When Cire returned to him, amnesic, he displayed significant patience when dealing with her, and was helpful in answering what questions she asked of him. It has been wondered if part of the reason he allowed them to escape so easily was based on some feelings for her.
Quotes
"Greetings my apprentice, my assassin."
Kamir upon catching the Sith assassin Cirenidd and his apprentice Savera Ulanti plotting his death.
"I imagine there is much you wish to know, however. Losing one's memories is a disorientating experience, and generally, considered a moment of weakness amongst most Sith, a time when they will take advantage of your weakness as my apprentice attempted to do with you, most recently."
Kamir beginning to manipulate Cirenidd against his apprentice Savera.
"The sands of Geonosis... sweeping along ever in an endless trek. A trek that will never end, nor ever began. A trek I feel that we Sith seek ever in our quest for immortality, but will never find. Even our greatest have fought for it and will fight for it, but the closest to immortality any have ever come, is by apparitions and visions. A legacy of what they had once been, but are no longer. Better than death, but worse than life."
Kamir ruminating on time and the Sith struggle for immortality.
"It is a pleasant to finally meet you, Lord Rot'um. It is not often I have the pleasure of meeting dead Sith Lords."
Kamir to Lord Rot'um upon finally meeting him aboard the Phalanx.
Skills and Abilities
Darth Arcitum is a powerful Sith Lord in combat, generally relying on a mixture of physical prowess and Force Powers. His favorite Force Power is the use of Death Field, consuming the living energy from those around them. He is adept in emitting bolts of lightning, and is adept in the use of Telekenisis. His combat style uses the traditional single saber with the combination of two cortosis laced spikes built into his gauntlets. This, combined with a heightened perception turns Arcitum into a menance on the field. Arcitum is generally better at fighting multiple opponents than single enemies, due to his mind's tendency to look at the grand scheme of things rather than individual cases.
Force Powers
Darth Arcitum's favorite power was the Dark Art of Death Field, which he used to force the life out of his enemies and into himself. His abilties with this dark power became so strong that when he utilized it, he could go beserk, losing focus on the immediate field and instead becoming more of a sucking void, desiring only more and more. It was a credit to his strength to be able to control this virulent power. Arcitum was also proficient with brief, yet powerful, spurts of lightning. He was capable with telekenesis and augmenting his physical abilities with the Force.
Lightsaber Combat
Arcitum was adept with Soresu, Makashi and Juyo, utilizing them effectively on the battlefield. He was also known to occasionally use Sokan, Dun Möch and Tràkata.
Equipment
Unlike many of his brethren, Arcitum favored the use of mechanical and technological appliances to aid him during a battle. Kamir had many upgrades to his traditional Sith battle armor that reinforced it significantly. Kamir also had equipped his gauntlets with two jut-out, cortosis laced spikes. He had perfected the use of these spikes in cojunction with his single saber, allowing him to deflect multiple blows from enemies. His boots were equipped with magnetic attachments. It was known to a few he also carried a flamethrower upon his right arm recognizing the danger of the weapon against Force Users. Aside from these technological applications, Kamir carries the standard Sith red blade. The hilt is simple, but strongly attuned to the Dark side through Arcitum's twisted power.
Kamir Ulanti was born into the Sith Empire in 50 BTC. Later in life he was granted the title of Darth Arcitum, and for his service to the Dark Council he was granted a personal battle cruiser. During the years after the Treaty, Arcitum all but disappeared from active life in the Sith Empire only returning for missions assigned to him by the Dark Council, which usually consisted of handling rivals to the said Council. What he did during this time to himself is relatively unknown though it has been guessed that he has been searching for ancient Sith secrets regarding immortality. He spent a significant amount of time within a base built into an abandoned Geonosian Spire. After an incident with a Sith Assassin, Arcitum would destroy this base and relocate it to another more secret location.
Biography
Little is known outside the Empire, of Kamir Ulanti. It is known to some Sith, that Kamir was born in 50 BTC to Karnos Ulanti, a Sith warrior and his wife, another Sith. His parents were butchered when he was five, and Kamir was tutored under another master. During the rest of his life, Kamir developed from a Sith child, to apprentice, to warrior, to master. Much of his actions during this time are unrecorded. He related to few during his life except his master, Véshkaban. This master would train Kamir for most of his life, and the two parted on even terms, unlike many within the Sith Empire.Early Life
"He's a quiet little man. He fears us, and so he hides himself out of that fear. He's got mental walls the like of which I've never seen, powered by a child's fear. Eventually, he will learn to control it, and it will make him strong and dangerous. But it will also be a danger unto himself. Sith masters hate not knowing what their pupil is thinking or feeling." - Karnos talking about Kamir.
Kamir was born to the Sith warrior Karnos Ulanti and his Dark side wielding wife, Salé Vashtan in the year 50 BTC. He would be trained along with his brother Tagos for the first five years of his life under Karnos, before his father and his wife were murdered by Kor'na, a Kel'dor Sith and several other unnamed Sith. Kamir would be very frightened at this time and along with Tagos, the two hid. Neither had shared much love for their wicked parents, but they were also all they had known. Kor'na would take the two siblings under his wing, his arrogance prompting him to believe he could play the two off against each other and acquire two apprentices at the same time. Tagos and Kamir, however, would have other ideas.
Life with the Sith
"I will teach you, fools. Not because you are worthy, for you are not, but because your strength will aid me for a time. Now learn and serve well, for otherwise, I will destroy you." - Kor'na talking to Tagos and Kamir
Tagos and Kamir would both benefit and rue their training under Kor'na. He had little patience with their child frailties and demanded they progress as fast as he thought they should. When he spoke, he expected them to remember it and know it that moment. Anything less was punished. At that time, Kamir was a stoic little lad, while Tagos was a loud mouthed bully. Both, however, shared an unspoken love for each other, something that Kor'na could sense. This love would anger him more than any of their failures and he would frequently push them against each other. The two brothers, recognizing what their master attempted, both swore to each other that they would continue to deceive their master, but that one day, the two of them would together kill him, and become strong amongst the Sith through their unity. They would obey Kor'na and would frequently fight each other viciously under his urging, but both also recognized these struggles as surface only.
Teenager years
"He's teaching me great things, Kamir. He's showing me the real power of the Dark side such as you have never seen with your calm ways. There's a wildness... a cleanness... that I don't think either of us has ever fully realized." - Tagos talking to Kamir
Unable to drive them apart, Kor'na began sending the two on missions usually using Kamir as a poster boy, and Tagos as his warrior, both in an attempt to promote the rivalry, and because he was angered by Kamir's apparent lack of passion, which he even at this young age, had been kept hidden. In these turbulent years, Kamir and Tagos remained connected, but the lavish rewards Kor'na bestowed on Tagos, and the secrets he gave them began to do what mutual pain had not. Tagos grew proud and conceited. He began to tell Kamir that their plan could be brought into effect sooner than anticipated. Level headed Kamir recognized the danger, and quickly began devising a means to show Tagos that Kor'na's attentions were little more than a semi-well developed strategy. Attempts to convince Tagos proved futile, however, Tagos was still unwilling to give up his brother in exchange for the favors of Kor'na. Perhaps, given enough time, Kor'na could've succeeded at driving them apart, however, his own unfettered anger drove him to make a mistake and force Tagos to choose between him and Kamir. Tagos refused to slay his brother, and Kor'na flew into a violent rage. In response to this, he sent the two of them on a suicide mission. Tagos despaired, having grown overly fond of the knowledge and teachings of Kor'na, but Kamir believed that if they could complete the mission, Kor'na would once again recognize their own importance and they could continue their training.
Impossible Mission
Kor'na had sent Kamir and Tagos to find Aluviss' Holocron. Aluviss was a reclusive Sith Lady who had supposedly been killed, but her teachings on Sith Alchemy and immortality were valuable. However, finding the holocron and retrieving it would prove a difficult task, and if they failed, Kor'na would slay them both. Tagos mused on flight, but Kamir managed to convince him otherwise. The two would spend many hours within the Sith libraries, studying and researching. Unfortunately, information proved scarce, but through diligent work they came upon the belief that she had retreated to Alahon - an ice world to finish her research. The two Sith went to Alahon, a planet located far from Sith territory and disturbingly close to Republic space. The two Warriors found an ancient Sith fortress on the planet's snowy surface and were elated at their discovery. They landed their ship outside the fortress and entered, cautiously. The two would face many ancient traps left in place by Aluviss, along with the descendants of her Sith experiments. These creatures and monstrosities would prove formidable foes, and Tagos and Kamir would spend two weeks battling in the fortress, using the snow to sustain them. Finally, battered and wounded the two managed to find their way to Aluviss' burial chamber, where they broke into an empty coffin and stole her holocron. Their escape proved difficult, and in their weakened and wounded state, even the power of the Dark Side began to fail them. Trapped and without hope the two examined Aluviss' holocron, wondering if perhaps they might discern something to help them. Unfortunately, neither had been tutored in Ancient Sith, and so the holocron was meaningless. Tagos at the lead, they began to slice their way to the surface, using their lightsaber to crack through the ancient ice formations, until they had carved a way out. This took them two days and nights of disciplined work, but they eventually broke the surface and retreated to their ship, leaving behind the cursed fortress and its inhabitants. Having gone for far too long without food, the terribly weak duo spend much time aboard their ship recuperating before they dared the trip home. They returned to Kor'na emaciated but elated with their success.
Weakness Purged
Kor'na, as Kamir predicted, appreciated the strength behind these two, and wondered about using it more often. Kor'na decided to utilize his apprentices, teaching them only enough to whet their appetite. Kamir and Tagos, angry at this withholding began to devise a plan to slay their master. Unfortunately, for the duo, Tagos' wild passions got in the way. He had in his time in the settlement, grown attached to a woman. When Kor'na discovered this he flew into another of his rages. He had the woman staked out in the Korriban Valley and summoned Tagos and Kamir. He demanded the two go into the valley and purge their weakness. When they arrived Tagos was outraged. Kamir cautioned him against striking now as they weren't ready, but Tagos was not to be reasoned with. Kor'na demanded that Kamir kill Tagos and purge his weakness. Kamir appeared to side with Tagos before turning on his brother and ending what had been twenty years of brotherly loyalty. Kamir was grief stricken by his action, and in a rage assaulted Kor'na. Kor'na was stunned and was swiftly defeated, primarily out of sheer shock than true power and skill on Kamir's part. Kamir's anger would not end there as he struck down Tagos' wife, as well, blaming her for his brother's death.
Consequences
"The boy's a fool. He let his own passions overrule his wisdom and slew his master before he had finished learning." - another Sith Master talking about Kamir.
However, slaying Kor'na would prove a poor move. The Sith would not respect an apprentice who had slain his master so early in his training. Kamir was still inexperienced in his learning and the other apprentices and warriors took this out on him, making him into the butt of their jokes. Kamir's quiet anger grew steadily, even as he realized the importance Tagos had played in his own protection. Kamir would effectively be isolated from the Sith community, but this also made him vicious. His random outbreaks eventually attracted the attention of the Sith Master Véshkabar.
Véshkabar
"You have made a mistake, Kamir, and for that, you would most likely die, or worse, live in ruin. However, I sense potential in you, and a mind ready to learn. Serve me faithfully, and I will instruct you in the ways - and powers - of the Sith." - Véshkaban talking to Kamir
Véshkabar was an elderly Sith Master and an experienced one. He recognized the impertinence in Kamir, but also the potential of his family's blood line. The Ulanti tree had brought forth many powerful warriors. Concluding that he could handle the young man, Véshkabar took Kamir under his wing and began training him. Initially, Véshkabar tested Kamir, learning what he could about him, examining how the stiff backed man reacted to stimuli. Perhaps, out of all the Sith, Véshkabar understood Kamir the best, and with this knowledge, Véshkabar acquired great power over Kamir. His tutelage advanced Kamir far faster than Kor'na had, but always he would be beneath Véshkabar. After his initial streak of growth, Véshkabar utilized Kamir as his agent. Training the man in memory games, and quiet experiments of subterfuge against other Sith Lords. The blame would always fall on Kamir if he failed. Fortunately, in his inexperienced early attempts, the trials were not so deadly if failure occured and he escaped with merely punishment rather than execution. Over time, Kamir became more adept, and his track record steadied. Véshkabar acknowledged this and began setting him on more difficult and dangerous missions - more valuable ones. To keep the young Sith under him, he would always supply Kamir with a new lesson after each succeeded mission. Kamir grew to admire his master and his techniques. He recognized that Véshkabar was too far above him for him to ever overthrow him. And because of this mentality, Kamir would remain Véshkabar's servant for the next twenty years. Véshkabar would use Kamir as his primary assassin and soldier in the war, and Kamir grew in experience daily. Eventually earning his own rank and power among the Sith. Others who had once belittled him, were outstripped by the blooming Sith. Véshkabar taught Kamir more than simply battle and powers, but also history, etiquette, and the ins-and-outs of diplomatic subterfuge. Kamir would grow into a seasoned veteran, and yet, his loyalties would still lie with Véshkabar as the masterful Lord always had more lessons to teach him. The two developed a solid relationship founded on mutual respect and mutual usefulness. Unfortunately for this budding relationship, each also recognized that the one would eventually die.
Savera
"You will serve me, child and I will help you survive. Serve me well and live, serve me false and your suffering will be great. Now, listen and learn well." - Kamir to Savera
Kamir, partly to help satisfy Véshkaban but also for his own purposes, awoke his niece Savera from stasis, in the year 15 BTC. Only two years old, she was frightened and cowardly. On their first meeting in many years, Kamir considered the child. He eventually decided that he wanted a puppet - a tool. But not one that would strike back at him later. So, he began to break her, slowly. He trained her harshly, and as she grew older, more viciously. Torturing every failure. The little girl would grow into a dangerous, but vicious warrior. Some deep part of her, though, remained free from Kamir's teachings. Hidden beneath an exterior of ferocity, and underneath another layer of fear, was a blooming woman who wanted to be happy. However, she buried these feelings underneath a facade of anger and fear as her master wanted.
The Sacking
"Back down Sith!" - Soresu Ulanti to Darth Véshkaban and Kamir Ulanti.
Along with many of the Sith forces, Kamir found himself under the command of Darth Malgnus in the invasion of Coruscant. He was one of the Sith warriors who was dropped onto the field. His attack was against an Aerial Control Tower. Along with Véshkaban, Kamir and the Sith soldiers with him made short work of the aerial tower, unwittingly killing his cousin, Amak's wife, Kira Sanya. The two would participate in the fighting against the Republic forces. There own assault after the tower, was the hangar bay consisting of a Republic fighter force. There the two faced off against a collection of Jedi Knights who had assembled to allow the Republic pilots access to their ships. Véshkaban and Kamir would face off in a difficult battle against their collective forces. Their attempt on the hangar was sabotaged but one by one, the Jedi Knights were defeated. Véshkaban and Kamir would leave after the first invasion being transferred to another front of the war. On their way out, however, Véshkaban confronted Kamir and told him his training would stop. That what the Sith would learn he would have to learn for himself. For if Véshkaban continued training him, one of them would eventually die. Kamir was surprised by this as he had assumed it necessary for the master to be overthrown by the apprentice. However, at an age of fifty years, Kamir accepted Véshkaban's proposal and the two parted on good terms. On his return to Korribon, Kamir would be given the title of Sith Lord for his actions during the war, and for his having finished his tutelage under Véshkaban. There were those who disapproved of the Lording of Kamir, now Arcitum, because he had not slain his master.
Darth Arcitum
"I am Darth Arcitum and I serve the Dark Council.".
During the next five years, Arcitum would continue his training of Savera, and eventually he would take the Sith Assassin Cirenidd under his wing. The details of these events are sketchy as Arcitum would spend much of his time doing deeds that the Dark Council demanded of him, mostly the dispatching of traitors and spies. It kept Arcitum occupied and prevented his fertile mind from working on any plan to take a seat on the Dark Council himself. Of course, Arcitum had already reached the pinnacle of his own ambitions and while this earned him the disgust of other Lords, it also kept the Dark Council well pleased with him. Between missions for the Council, Arcitum would spend much time working through ancient Sith Histories and monuments. His research appeared to focused on a particular Sith Lady called Darth Aluviss. Although details are sketchy of this Sith Lady, it is believed that her power and armies were defeated in battle by another unnamed Sith Lord. She was presumed dead, but further research indicated that she had in fact secluded herself on Alahon, away from active Sith life. During these years, Arcitum developed a reputation as eccentric and unpredictable.
Events on Geonosis
Arcitum was present at his hidden base, when the sith assassin, Cirenidd, formerly under the thumb of Arcitum, arrived at the base. He allowed his apprentice, Savera, some time with the assassin, before he intervened. He spoke with Cirenidd for some time, but the hot tempered, amnesiac assassin grew angry with the Sith Lord and refused to rejoin his service. Arcitum, angered with her impudence, allowed her to leave him. He would spend the rest of his time in the hangar organizing the evacuation of the base. Not long after this, Savera, with Arcitum's prodding, convinced Cire to attack him. However, he swiftly overcame the two with his dark powers. His momentary victory however, was interrupted with the arrival of two mercenaries. After a brief engagement, Arcitum was injured and, supposedly fled. His soldiers engaged the mercenaries, while he briefly spoke with Savera before leaving the base. He returned to his ship in orbit, the Phalanx. Upon being questioned as to why he let his assassin and apprentice escape, he said "I do not need them on Geonosis." The exact meaning of the eccentric Sith Master is unclear.
Summoned
It is known that sometime after the sacking of Coruscant, Kamir was summoned out of his reclusiveness to Dromund Kaas, for a meeting with the Dark Council. During his meeting with the Dark Council, he was informed that he was to investigate the events surrounding the destruction of the Sith Temple on Felucia. He was hidden in the Council Chambers where he overheard the Sith Governor Darth Rot'um's report. He remained on Dromund Kaas to acquire profiles on Darth Rot'um and another Sith Lord present at the Destruction of the Temple on Felucia, Codicius.
Investigation
Darth Arcitum would depart from Dromund Kaas for Kuat, after hearing that Lord Codicius had stolen an Imperial Cruiser from there. While he was there he made contact with Codicius and after a brief, disrespectful discussion between the two Lords, received two reports. One of which, confirmed that the Temple on Felucia had been self destructed rather than destroyed by the Republic fleet as Rot'um's repot indicated, and the other reporting a Lord Baradus was pretending to be filling Arcitum's role. Further investigation revealed that Baradus was one of the supposedly dead Rot'um's mentors, and notably, had been dead for some time. Baradus, or Rot'um, was looking for Codicius. Arcitum would linger on at Kuat, suspecting that Rot'um would come to Kuat in search of Codicius as he had. Under his direction the Phalanx would apprehend a supply ship, called the Silver Dagger, and reel it in for supposed 'repairs'.
Arcitum's suspicions would be proven correct. Sure of his belief, he sent a small detachment of droids aboard the Silver Dagger. There, they released a nerve toxin into the atmosphere, which sent most of the crew unconscious. Unfortunately, for Arcitum's plan, some of the crew members were quick to react and had sealed themselves inside their armor suits. The repair droids, or what seemed to be, then began hurrying through the ship for sabotage. They were defeated, however, by Lord Rot'um. Meanwhile, the protocol droid who had released the gas, threatened to ignite it, claiming it to be flammable. This ploy worked for some time, until Rot'um arrived to disable the droid. Then he left the ship and destroyed the terminal, there, which deactivated the power to some of the hangar defenses. During this brief reprieve the Silver Dagger was able to escape, but minus Rot'um.
Arcitum's guards were swift to engage Rot'um, during which he proved his mastery of the Force and combat. After Arcitum arrived, however, the soldiers fled, leaving the two Sith Lords to fight each other alone. It was at this time that Rot'um's squad initiated the defenses of Kuat, by computer slicing, which began firing upon the Phalanx, which Rot'um and Arcitum were aboard. The two Sith Lords fought each other viciously, however, it soon became apparent that neither was going to best the other. Arcitum demanded Rot'um surrender as there was no escape. Rot'um however, would prove the Sith Lord wrong, first distracting Arcitum, and then fleeting, quickly fighting his way through the harried guards and reaching the escape pods. He uncovered Arcitum's plan by threatening a guard who had sabotaged them. The guard broke and revealed that they had planted mines. Rot'um using his code as Sith Lord, ejected all the escape pods.
Meanwhile the Phalanx, heavily damaged by the Kuat's defenses was unable to prevent Rot'um's forces from collecting him and fleeing the planet. The Phalanx would put in for repairs while Arcitum debated his next course of action.
