Kuat sesh campaign
From SW:TOR-RP-Wiki
Kuat is a planet that not nearly enough people take interest in. It's got a hell of a backstory behind it if you actually look and I am going to pick apart elements of this and rearrange them into a way that we have a lovely good backstory ready to go.
Locations.
-The Kuat System is not a simple one, as this picture shows. Although it is Imperial era I imagine there would still be strict routes in place. Just getting straight into Kuat will be a symbol of Trigg's power.
-Kuat itself is a interesting planet. It is a terraformed planet, forested with plains and canyons. It exports art, food and technology so is so some sort of bizarre mix of Alderaan and Corellia. However it has a terrible caste system which leaves the rich and middle classes to dominate, whilst the poor struggle to get by.
-Kuat has two moons but we will only concern ourselves with Ronay as it is the home of Toryaz Station. A station of unmatched luxury it can be our initial guest quarters.
-Kuat Drive Yards are possibly the most important part of Kuat. They are their source of wealth and power. A gigantic ring of shipyard complexes, makers of masses of military equipment for the Republic. I imagine we probably will stay away from there.
-The capital and therefore center of Kuat's business would be at Kuat City. Imagine a grand as city as possible. I expect the Sesh family to have headquarters here whilst the gang can do some exploring and see sites like:
- The casino and Tekshar Falls in the entertainment district.
- A nice green area in the form of Gardens of Tralala(worst name ever) which can have some lovely little Drebin running round to keep Medeia happy.
History of the Sesh family
Trigg's family are one of the members of a group known as The Ten. As one of the founding families of Kuat they have immense power but the key element here is that Kuat is a matriarchal society. As a Kuati royal Trigg has picked up a few things, the first being a billion credit fortune. He sold his share off discontented with the horrible infighting amongst the various merchant families and not happy to act as a member of a group of people who refer to themselves using the royal we.
Trigg's family is a interesting and unusual occurrence. As it is a matriarchal society he took his mother's name and the business was inherited from her. Riqi Sesh was a kind and gentle woman and had a deep love of philosophy (which is why Trigg is later reminded of her by Medeia.) However at a relatively young age Trigg's mother suffered brain damage in a accident with her personal speeder (some rumours suggest it was a deliberate move made by one of the other merchant families or perhaps someone even within the Sesh family.) This is where Trigg's father enters the scene.
Trigg's father married Trigg's mother as a Telbun. For those of you who won't read the Telbun link (or perhaps are confused by it) let me give a quick run over. So they don't interbreed or marry other merchant families the Kuati nobles marry Telbuns. Telbuns are pre-selected well educated, healthy, physically fit humans from the middle classes. Their life is powerless once married to their noble and they spend their time raising the child and getting non of the benefits of being rich. Except Giddean Sesh saw a perfect opportunity and no noblewoman was going to take it away from him.
With powerful lawyers on his side Giddean saw to it that he had Riqi classified as mentally capable of running the Sesh family company so he could "advise her." From his new found power Giddean has risen above his status to be one of the most powerful men in Kuat society and his power grows everyday. He is everything that is wrong with Kuat; sly, ambitious, sexist, xenophobic (80% of the population is Human and in Palpatine's era the place is a staunch supporter of the Empire) and mean to boot. Trigg dislikes him althought Giddean seems to have either not noticed or does not care.
- Perhaps Giddean (who I imagine looking something like Patrick Bauchau) is less of an evil-angry-man and more of a political activist. Think of reverse feminism. Rather than simply being incorrigibly bad, Giddean was frustrated that, as a male, he was less likely to get any property (hereditary, woman-owned), or achieve success in business (hereditary, therefore woman-owned), or find a place among the royalty. He might care for Riqi, and there might have been some warmth between them, but he might also genuinely want the Sesh assets to grow and prosper. If Riqi is/was anything like Medeia, she probably didn't have much of a head for business... not like the Telbun who was trained practically from childhood to be able to manage things like that. He is disdainful of women, since he believes that women have literally been "keeping the man down". This can be interpreted as sexism. He is also insecure when encountering offworlders. A reason for this might be that while he's mostly respected within his own society, among other species and offworlders, Giddean would be considered a mere servant. This likely grates at him.
- Giddean could also be extremely frustrated with Trigg's cavalier attitude to it all. From birth, Trigg had everything Giddean wanted. Trigg is noble, has money, and has power, but he fritters it away. And on top of that, Trigg doesn't seem to like his father all that much either. Giddean notices it, but has no interest in pursuing an argument. He does not want to alienate his son because of the respect he has for the Sesh lineage, but he does not know how to connect with someone who is wholly disinterested in Kuati society. Though Giddean might be concerned about his offspring, he is very irritated by the lack of concern Trigg apparently has for the Sesh name and lineage.
- PS. Trigg might not be used to thinking this way, but his speech seems to be a step for him to want to help others. If he needs help with that, Medeia could be a resource for him. She would definitely pick up on the class concerns, is definitely capable of sensing emotional states and surface thoughts (even if she usually refuses to), and is DEFINITELY experienced with influencing events to enact change. She also has advice for Trigg if he genuinely wants to have equality + make peace with his dad. --virama 06:18, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
- Trigg is 'definitely' looking to helping others. His silly playful mask is gone and he has confronted the core beliefs that used to be at the heart of him. Finding he didn't as such like the person he was, he is trying to change it. Sarna has been a huge influence on him (he came up with the medical plan because he knew she would approve) as has Medeia. He would probably like Medeia's tutelage in The Basics in been a Good Person. Trigg will make peace with his dad at a later time, once a rather large event has taken place.--Frosty 18:38, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
- Without reiterating things we talked about by IM, the way I see things possibly playing out is this: if Trigg makes a genuine effort to keep the Sesh line successful, that would go a long way toward improving relations with his dad. And if he decides that his dad is the best one to keep things running (at least until Trigg is ready to settle down and run the business himself)? That might be a nice heart-warming bonding moment.
- PS. Medeia wouldn't teach Trigg to be a good person, necessarily. She'd just have advice for things he can to do to enact large-scale change. It's no mistake that Ren came out the way she is. And let's not forget that Medeia's plan to rescue Gant involved playing the gangs off each other. Whether done for altruistic ends or not, she manipulates things. --virama 20:02, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
- Well I'd hope Medeia would try and push him towards using his new found world changing powers to good use. Like building muffins factories.--Frosty 20:22, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
As the only heir from Giddean and Riqi, Trigg is in theory the only person in line to Sesh fortune and business. Except in a matriarchal society it would always be preferable to be able to hand off the company to a female which is where Trigg's auntie comes in. Onara Sesh is the sister of Riqi and just as viscious as Giddean but with a intense dislike of Trigg. She wishes to take over the company and might just succeed with a push. However her cold exterior hides a true love for her sister.
- Maybe Onara Sesh is kind of the flip-side of Giddean. She might resent that the Telbun has been given control over the well-being of the company and her sister. Though she shares Giddean's frustration with Trigg, Onara might believe that the business would be better off in the hands of a hereditary Sesh... such as herself. --virama 06:18, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
- I have plans for Onara.--Frosty 20:22, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
When the ex-Sinuous Red gang enter Kuat the situation will be very much coming to the boiling point and the various players mind find themselves being asked to pick sides.
A few other notes
This section is for all members of the HIVEMIND to put their suggestions. If you have a idea of what else to do in this campaign put it here. Primarily this campaign will be non combat based and initially a holiday as all our characters need a rest seeing as from the old crew only Medeia has yet to be injured.
Remember, Kuat is all about power games, human dominance and class problems. It might be a long time Republic member but it reads more like merchant tyranny.
LOOK! The Sesh family colours!
