- "Ladies, would you please shut it? Listen to me. Yes, I lied to you. No, I don't love you. Of course it makes you look fat. I have never been to Belkadan. It is pronounced "Neb-u-la". By the way, no, I've never actually met Seithe, but I 'ave made love to 'im. And all of this pales to utter insignificance in light of the fact that my ship is once again gone. Savvy?"
- ―Marcus Darvati to a pair of dim-witted women.
Marcus Darvati, born Marcaeus Darvanian Ati'Auriga was a male Hapan Smuggler and the owner of the famous intergalactic criminal hub, the Smugglers Den. He assisted the Galactic Republic during the final years of the Great Galactic War and the Intergalactic Cold War that succeeded it. He was also a Smuggler Lord of the Brethren Court where he reigned over the Bright Jewel Sector.
Born on Hapes, the capital of the Hapes Consortium, Marcus was almost guaranteed a life of servitude to the highborn females of the Hapan society. However he was offered the chance at a better life by an elderly man named Gonlar, who offered to train him and several other men to be the next generation of Lorell Raiders, who had been all but eradicated by the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic in 4000 BBY. When Gonlar had gathered all of the recruits he needed (73 in total), he had them gather at the Hapan Royal Navy's starport on Hapes. Once there they broke into the base and captured one Nova-Class Battle Cruiser and then fled the planet, escaping to the Transitory Mists.
The group managed to escape destruction at the hands of the Hapan Royal Navy thanks to a series of hidden routes and other little surprises that belonged to the Lorell Raiders, Gonlar having access to all of it as a former raider himself. The Nova-Class landed on the planet of Andalia where it's interior was completely loaded up with training equipment ans a new group of starfighters were docked into it's hangars. For the next several years the recruits were all trained to become a reformation of the destroyed Lorell Raiders. When the training was done, the Nova-Class lured a Hapan Royal Navy commanded Nova-Class Battle Cruiser into the Transitory Mists where a battle took place between the Hapan Royal Navy's starfighters and the fighters of the reformed Lorell Raiders. Marcus proved himself to be one of the better pilots, taking out a total of thirteen enemy fighters in the battle (A record he would keep and never surpass). The battle however came with heavy losses on the Raiders side as only 21 of the total recruits survived the battle (Gonlar dubbed the survivors as the only ones worthy to actually become raiders) and with that the group made a final stop on Chosper where they resupplied before setting off, leaving the Hapes Cluster behind. It was time at last for Gonlar's revenge against the Galactic Republic.
Attacking passing merchant freighters, security forces, whatever they could find. The Reformed Lorell Raiders eventually incurred action from the Republic Navy. By this time Marcus had become a lot more reluctant to fire on the people they fought because he had nothing against them, they had done him no wrongs (As opposed to the Hapans who had made him a second-class citizen just because he was born male) and aside from Gonlar's revenge, Marcus could see no reason why should have been there. When the Republic attacked the Reformed Lorell Raiders, Marcus abandoned his comrades as they fought the Republic and he made his surrender. Boarding a Foray-Class Blockade Runner and taken into custody. He would be put on trial for the Reformed Lorell Raiders' crimes against civilians, Law enforcement agencies and the Republic military but he would be later found unguilty and allowed to leave due to lack of evidence. While trying to scrape up a living as a cargo-hauler, Marcus fell in with the Exchange, a powerful criminal organization, who made Marcus into a Smuggler who would ship illegal cargo for them.
While Marcus took to the job with enjoyment, he disliked working for the Exchange and sought out several ways to escape from them. However a few mistakes in his judgement got him entangled with another criminal organization, the Hutt Cartel. A criminal organization that was so large it held it's own army and navy. With his work cut out for him, Marcus would need to keep both the Exchange and the Hutts happy until such time he could escape both of there clutches. Eventually a high-risk job presented itself which would have left Marcus rich (Enough to pay off debts with the Hutts and hopefully rid himself of the Exchange). Marcus joined up with the Mon Calamari Smuggler, Sivti as well as the Bounty Hunter Ver Rade and a few other people who made up the crew for this high-risk job. The job ended in success but with high costs. Sivti and the majority of the crew were killed while Marcus and Ver were able to escape with the items they were after (The blueprints to a new space station). After which, Marcus would tour various planets in the Galaxy while he set up plans to have the station built, which was finalized in a deal with both the Hutt Cartel and the Exchange (One such term of the deal settled both his debts with the organizations).
The Exchange would try to kill Marcus and the Hutt Cartel's representative, which worked out badly for the Exchange, as there assassins were killed and they were terminated from the deal (All of there initial parts of the trade were awarded to the Hutts) and Marcus now runs his own space station from the Enton'iree Asteroid Field. Despite making enemies of the Exchange, the Corellian Engineering Corporation and the Galactic Republic over the years, he still decided to aid them smuggling supplies to worlds that were effected by the Galaxy-wide depression that the Republic was suffering (Which would hopefully make them hate him less).

Biography:
Early Life:
Born on the planet Hapes. Marcus, originally Marcaeus, was a second-class citizen from the moment of his birth on the capital world of the Hapes Consortium. He was thrusted into the lower class because he was born a male and while he was apart of the middle (Or working class) citizenship he was treated as inferior by all the females of his people. It hadn't been Marcus' fault, he had no control over his birth gender but he was harshly branded as the inferior of two genders for no reason.
His father and mother were merchants, they came from Maires, but as Hapan law stated, all major business was to be conducted on Hapes and so they were currently living on Hapes. When he was old enough Marcus began working around his father's business as both a deliveryman and handyman when needed. During one such delivery, he was met by a man named Gonlar as long as several other teenagers. Everyone had one thing in common, they were male. Partly intrigued Marcus joined the group as they listened to Gonlar. It was a recruitment, an apparent revival of the Lorell Raiders that originally ruled the Hapes Cluster. Marcus, with the chance to escape Hapan society joined the group.

- "You can't do this Dagon!"
"You're right, I'm still sober right now."" - ―Marcus Darvati and Dagon Ohnaka
In 4 ATC, Dagon and the Red Band pulled off the hardest job of there lives. They not only infiltrated the heart of Sith space, but they had been able to steal a large cache of Sith holocrons from one of the Sith's more primary worlds. Of course the Sith were never going to let the pirates escape so easily and it became a war just trying to get off world. They were pinned down at a courtyard in front of the temple that they had stolen the holocrons from, with Sith forces on every side, it seemed like they were going to die until Marcus Darvati arrived in the Vaunted Glory to provide airborne assistance. While the immediate ground forces surrounding Dagon and the rest of the pirates had been eliminated, the Vaunted Glory was now identified as an enemy vessel and escaping Sith space would become several times harder. The Vaunted Glory flew off to the rendevouz point as the temple's courtyard held no place for the ship to land. Dagon, Ruhl and Nix Terronian led the rush across Ziost's landscape so that they could reach the ship, several of the pirates were killed in that rush and more perished as they attempted to board the Glory.
Fleeing into space, it wasn't long before an entire Sith armada arrived to try and stop them. The ships weapons were full trying to keep the legions of starfighters back while the pilots tried to escape the Sith battlecruisers and Oppressors with maneuverability. It worked with enough success to allow the Glory to make a hyperspace jump to the Begeren system, but the Sith were right behind them having more knowledge on the area was a large benefit. The Glory continued it's futile flight, brutally damaged and battered they were barely able to escape the Sith forces. But there small victory was nothing but demoralizing when they happened upon a Sith blockade fleet awaiting them. Dagon ordered his men to prepare the shuttles, none of them questioned the order, the atmosphere made it clear what was going to happen. Marcus objected however, questioning why Dagon had to do something like this. He was never given an answer, instead Dagon bestowed upon the Hapan a jewel that symbolized the position of Smuggler Lord of the Bright Jewel Sector, before long Marcus was hauled off by Bergav the Small. The Republic shuttles that the Red Band used, soon departed from the hangars of the Vaunted Glory flying slowly behind the vessel before the frigate started to speed up. Using whatever droids and automated systems were on the ship, Dagon kept the ship on course, flying towards the Sith blockade fleet. Dagon boosted the power of the ship's shields and engines far beyond there limit so that he could cause the reactor to overload as it tried to cope with the stress. The doubled-over shields were enough to keep the Sith battlecruisers from ripping the Glory apart and it's increased speed made it almost impossible for the Sith to have any chance at escaping it.
When the distance was closed, the Glory crashed into the center ship of the Sith blockade's front line. Smashing across he vessel's hull, the Glory ripped right through the Sith battlecruiser's command tower, all but destroying the vessel's command crew. The Vaunted Glory continued to fly however, it's underbelly damaged and it's front blazing with smoke and flames. The Glory crashed into the next Sith battlecruiser that had sat behind the first, this time the crash was collision that destroyed both vessels, but not before the Vaunted Glory's reactor detonated in an overload that would wipe out the rest of the Sith blockade in a power shockwave. As the bridge of the Glory ripped itself apart, Dagon started laughing away, swigging at a bottle of Skannbult Likker before the room ignited in flames.
The shockwave from the explosion did severe damage to the surrounding blockade ships and with the Sith fleet in disarray the Republic shuttles had an easy time of making it past the blockade and escaping into Hyperspace once again. A funeral was held for Ohnaka at his base and the effects the legendary pirate's death would be felt for years across the Galaxy. The Red Band would later fall apart, while Marcus intended to do the title he was bestowed proud, by living up to his mentor's name.
War on the Den:
Personal Description:
Personality:
"Did someone say credits?"
- Marcus Darvati.
Marcus was one of those happy-go-lucky types of Smugglers. He usually held a happy attitude and was one to make a lot of wise cracks and jokes. Of course this usually changed when he ended up on a job working for someone with a nature for killing those who messed up - especially since those people usually gave jobs that were basically death traps in the first place, Marcus would become rushed and disdainful of almost everything around him and in some cases he would even become nervous. although everything would fall entirely to his love of money he would become calm and even devious or quick thinking to some whenever money was involved, it was part of his charm as some said - but then again his charm was usually as a very bad romantic - but then again so were most Smugglers he knew either that or they hiked up with someone with a lightsaber - which was worse in Marcus' mind. He had an addiction to Cigarras, specifically of the Shento variety. He was also an extremely lightweight drinker. A single glass of alcohol would make him drink no matter the how much alcohol was within the glass. Anymore and he would become something of a fiend as proven by his marriage to an Askajian on Nar Shaddaa and his first encounter with Seithe, the Sith Prince on Begeren where he forced himself on the man, mistaking him for a woman.
Appearance:
- "Mr. Tenien, any particular reason why my ship be gone?"
"The ship? We're on the ship. [pause] Marcus! the ship's gone!"
"Really?" - ―Marcus Darvati and Korin Tenien.
Marcus is a dark skinned Near-Human Male from the planet of Hapes (Making him a Hapan). He was five feet and seven inches with light indigo coloured eyes which was rather rare in any society. Like all of the Hapan species Marcus' appeared to be beautiful towards other races of Human or Near-Human status. Trying to keep this as some sort of tradition Marcus was always seen as clean and avoided whatever injuries he could. This had the effect of keeping him pretty well tonned as dodging blaster fire like some crazed mynock wasn't exactly easy. Marcus' hair was also pretty simple, his hair was set up as a full set of dreadlocks that came off the back of his neck in a five strand ponytail - held by a small cloth wrapping.
Equipment/Apparel:
Weaponry:
Frost Shot & Tension:
Main Article: Mustafarian blaster pistol, Vexa Flechette pistol
Marcus has always carried two blaster pistols. When he was apart of the Lorell Raiders albeit only for a short time he was given two common Blaster Pistols which he eventually got rid of in favour of a pair of Mandalorian Blaster Pistols. He would of course eventually get rid of both of these blaster pistols as well over time. The first Mandalorian Blaster Pistol was replaced when Marcus transported a group of Mustafarians to the planet of Mustafar. He was rewarded with the usual pay of course but he was also given a Coynite Mustafarian Blaster Pistol which was a Blaster Pistol made by the Mustafarians and was modified by a group of bandits calling themselves The Coynite, which made the blaster bolts exceedingly cold giving them the ability to actually freeze targets on rare occasions. Due to this Marcus nicknamed the Blaster Pistol as the Frost Shot. The next Blaster Marcus got was during his theft of the plans for the Inforten-871 Space Station, he stole the blaster from the corpse of a security captain as it attracted his attention and was nearly the end of him. The blaster pistol in question was a Vexa Flechette Pistol which was quite a powerful little gun capable of piercing through armour, due to the circumstance of when Marcus acquired the blaster pistol he nicknamed it the Tension.
Clothing/Accessories:
Marcus commonly wore attire befitting of both the average pilot and run of the mill smugglers. He wore a simply black shirt, that had a visual appearance of dis-repair, both the arms were covered in sewing lines from the sleeves being ripped apart in several different situations. The chest held three buttons on it that were usually left undone and giving people a view of some of Marcus' chest - just before his neckline. Marcus wore a pilot's jacket over this shirt which was a light grey in colour with the shoulder and top of the back being red. A strap pouch sat on each of the sleeves with a single strap to close them. The jacket was usually always left unzipped and open, only being zipped up on rather cold occasions or where a flowing article of clothing could get him killed. On his left wrist Marcus often wore an armour bracer that looked like it belonged to Republic Trooper armour - most likely because of the inbuilt comm-link that was attached to the bracer. On his hands Marcus wore a pair of simple black fingerless gloves that were made up of some easily wrinkled material. Around his waist Marcus wore a brown bandolier holster that doubled as a belt, this is where his blaster pistols usually sat in said holsters which lay just ontop of his trouser pockets. On his lower body Marcus wore a pair of simple black trousers with a buttoned top instead of a zipper and two simple trouser pockets. A thin blue stripe runs down the outer side of the trousers (As an inverted reference to Han Solo's clothing ((his being blue trousers, black stripe)). The boots are very simple. Being black leather uniform boots with an unusual blue tint running through the boots - which Marcus claims was because of an ionic goop that he stood in.
Class/Skills:
Class:
"Never fight when you can bluff.
Never bluff when you can run.
Never run when you can sneak.
If no one knows you're there, you win."
- Smuggler's Creed, Combat Litany.
Being born as a male on the planet of Hapes he was pretty much assured to have his life spent serving the Lorell Raiders. By the time Marcus was born most of the Lorell Raiders had been killed by forces of the Republic and the Jedi Arca Jeth. A surviving Lorell Raider by the name of Gonlar was training the next line of recruits as he wanted revenge against as many Republic troops they could kill. When there training was complete and there fighters prepared the group was soon launched into space where they struck against a small Republic target. This would go on for a few months at first only attracting the attention of security forces and then eventually a Republic investigation unit - after that however a real force was sent into deal with the Raiders. Marcus had already shown heavy reluctance to try gunning down the Republic ships and in this particular fight he surrendered. Being allowed to board a Foray-Class Blockade Runner where he was arrested and then later let go after a trial on Coruscant. Marcus eventually ended up entangled with the Exchange and the Hutt Cartel when he tried pursuing a life as a Smuggler. This would culminate in Marcus playing both sides until sent on a job to capture the plans of some sort of asteroid space station. Turning on both the Hutt Cartel and the Exchange he had a new deal worked out between them where he commanded the station and they held control over certain parts of it's underworld workings. Although this seemed the most fitting Marcus is hunted by Bounty Hunters and Exchange/Cartel thugs every now and again.
Skills:
Marcus was exceptionally skilled at three things. Stealing, Quick Draw and running for his life. Stealing came very easy to Marcus and his time in the Exchange and Hutt Cartel helped hone what was basically an uncommon trait. He was very light on his toes, making the sounds he made when walking much harder to hear and with his swiftness at moving his hands and fingers he was able to pickpocket from most people before they could even notice he had moved. Of course quick fingers never really helped him when he tried the trick on a Jedi and let's face it every thief has tried to steal a lightsaber at least once in there lifetime. When it came to the use of Blaster Pistols and the covetted specialty of a Quick Draw, Marcus was among the best (As far as he cared to believe anyway). This was partly due to the fact he carried Quick-Draw Holsters for his Blaster Pistols and the fact both his pistols were very light - combined with Marcus' swift hand movements. Finally when it came to running for his life, Marcus was out of everyone's league. He found it very natural to do and it almost came as a reflex when a situation got out of hand Marcus would be the first one running out the nearest exit towards his ship or whatever he could use to escape. To overcome the problem of being basically blind in the dark, Marcus took to training to make his ears more accute. While the dark made his sight useless, he was efficient enough in his training to be able to walk and move at a gradual run with not much effort. However his movements become sluggish while relying on it, his reaction time being only a fraction of it's usual height.
Companions/Vehicles:
Companions:
Hoop:
Hoop was a Kowakian Monkey-Lizard that became Marcus' pet and eternal bundle of annoyance. The two first met not long after the final days of the construction of the Smuggler's Den. While inspecting the currently empty Red Light District of the asteroid space station he encountered the Monkey-Lizard who stole one of his blaster pistols (Specifically Frost Shot). After this odd encounter the Kowakian Monkey-Lizard would often follow Marcus around and at one point stowing on board his ship during a job. Due to the Monkey-Lizard's persistance, Marcus adopted him and named him Hoop which seemed to be an enjoyed title for the Monkey-Lizard. Hoop would usually be found on the Smuggler's Den either wandering around or causing mischief, when Marcus was on board the Den as well Hoop would take his position perched on Marcus' shoulder which Marcus dained as a sign of affection and simply took to it - no matter how much the little rascal weighed.
Rampart:
Main Article: Rampart
M8EPA a Mark VII Assassination Droid better known as Rampart was the droid companion of Marcus Darvati. Rampart was originally an assassination droid working for a Bounty Hunter who once tried to kill Marcus only to fail and end up losing his own life. In his last moments the Bounty Hunter activated some sort of system in the droid which caused him to become independent and seek out his own goals. This however was influenced by the ideal to avenge his last master and so Rampart took over his former master's lot as a Bounty Hunter and hunted down Marcus on three occasions, being defeated in all of them. In there fourth encounter Rampart requested to know why Marcus wouldn't terminate him and was given an unexpected answer. Rampart would then request to work under Marcus and actually purged his weaponry and assassination protocols in favour of becoming something more diplomatic. His system was upgraded so that he could both interface with Marcus' personal ship the Red Nebula as well as many of the computer mainframes on the Smuggler's Den to which he became the foremost administrator droid.
Vehicles:
Land Vehicles:
X-20 Airspeeder:
The X-20 Airspeeder was an Airspeeder created by the Republic Protection Manufacturing Company. Marcus Darvati acquired one of these speeders during his time working as a Smuggler for both the Hutt Cartel and the Exchange. He initially stole the Airspeeder while being chased by Republic authorities on Coruscant, where he simply fell in love with the design of the vehicle and the workings of it. Once he had escaped the authorities he took the Airspeeder back to where the Red Nebula was docked. Having the Airspeeder boarded onto his ship it later became his very own Airspeeder afterwards, used whenever he needed something that didn't attract attention like a starship would.
Space Vehicles:
The Dustboat:
Main Article: Dustboat
The Dust Boat was a Oberon-Class Medium Military Freighter designed by the Republic Protection Manufacturing Company. It was the first ship Marcus ever actually owned but required a crew to pilot due to it's application as a military vessel instead of a civilian one. Marcus would fly the vessel for most of his early career up until the Theft over Corellia. By this time Marcus' crew had grown rather disdainful of him and the group stole his ship, abandoning both him and his co-pilot Korin Tenien on the moon of Nal Hutta, Nar Shaddaa. While on the moon, Marcus became part of a crew who were planning to steal plans of a new space station from the hands of the Corellian Engineering Corporation. The heist became a hectic mess and ended with Marcus as captain of the Red Nebula.
The Red Nebula:
Main Article: Red Nebula
The Red Nebula is a heavily modified MF-3360 Medium Freighter that had been piloted by many different people and eventually ended up in Marcus' hands after it's previous owner died during a job together. Marcus took over as the ships captain after successfully using the ship to escape Republic naval forces at a Corellian Shipyard. The Red Nebula would serve as Marcus' personal ship for his work and even went under modifications while in his service - mainly an upgrade to it's main computer to allow his droid companion Rampart to interface with the ship and command it's auxillary systems and automated turrets.
