Because I'm lacking a better picture I'm using this one for the moment. Nex does not have or use those huge knives. Not done with the history part yet, still working on it.

Quotes/Mottos

While you are mourning the loss of your friend, others are rejoicing to meet him behind the veil.

This is how wars are won, not with armies of soldiers but with a single knife, artfully placed.

After all these years, I have yet to find one of my own kind or the location of my homeworld for that matter. It troubles me greatly to think I am the last.

Appearance

Nex stands out of most if not all crowds because of his height along with his avian and reptilian qualities. He wears brown robes that offer little protection but allow him to maneuver quite well. His belt houses a cloaking device and several connectors for adding small bags or other lightsabers to it.

(4,000 - 3960 BBY) Jedi Training

He landed on Coruscant on a freighter arriving from Kashyyyk, where he was before then and how old he actually is, is only known by Nex. However the location of his species and homeworld are unknown to him. Because of his relatively small stature at the time, many claimed him to not be much more than two decades old and born near the end of the Beast Wars. After arriving on the planet he made his way to a large temple filled with force sensitives and asked for further training to control and increase his force capabilities.

Nex is one of the few Talortai to actually become a Jedi, spending most of his time in the jedi temple. His early years were filled with intense lightsaber training, force training, and long hours of study in the library. Only leaving the temple on a few occasions, he had a fairly sheltered life. The years he spent reading about the other worlds and cultures could not prepare him for what was about to happen in the future.

During the Great Sith War, many masters were struck down including his own during the First Battle of Coruscant in 3,996 BBY. His first real test occurred as Krath soldiers and Mandalorians invaded and attacked the planet. With only four years of jedi training under his belt at the time, Nex fought his way through the invaders and helped the Republic ground forces repel the majority of the Mandalorians as Jedi Master Vodo-Siosk Baas defeated and captured Ulic Qel-Droma.

After the battle of Coruscant and the duel in the senate, Nex still sought training for many more years to come. The next few years of training and honing his skills both with a lightsaber and in the force made him a formidable opponent. He proved his valor yet again in many missions including those during the Great Hunt. After the Great Hunt, Nex was granted the status of Jedi Knight but returned to his training on Coruscant. Although he continued to train with his lightsaber, the majority of his focus was spent on learning and improving force abilities. Along with the main force powers such as Speed and Jump, he proficiently used telekinesis and Combustion. He craved knowledge of everything and anything resulting in his attempt at using Drain Knowledge on a select few of the planets inhabitants, mainly criminals.

During the Mandalorian Wars his sheltered life on Coruscant expanded as he was one of many jedi to follow Revan and Malak in 3,963 BBY. During his time following Revan, Nex took advantage of many opportunities to better his ability at Drain Knowledge, Combustion, and Telekinesis. Every battle granted him more experience in the use of his lightsaber and force powers. Although his powers were increasing, he still felt himself lacking compared to other Masters which made him continue to push himself.

(3,960 – 3955 BBY) Escape And Life On Nar Shaddaa

In 3,960 BBY, following the battle at Malachor V, Nex fled as Revan started up a new war of his own and ended up on Nar Shaddaa. Nex fought along side and respected Revan, the last thing he wanted was to fight him.

After landing he walked the docks in the Refugee Sector witnessing many acts of unnecessary violence and constant harassment from the many criminal gangs in the area. The more he wandered the sector, the more disgusted he became with its criminal inhabitants. He rented an apartment on the docks and got a job doing grunt work loading and unloading cargo. The criminals’ constant killing of innocents in robberies and scams that resulted in many people becoming homeless wore away at Nex. A year of watching the gangs go unchecked changed him as he went to Vogga for a chance to help these people. He began doing jobs for Vogga, removing lesser criminals from the planet who continuously abused the refugees and honest citizens. Although his intentions were pure, soon he to began to fall into the criminal life, but he was different. He struck down and sabotaged the corrupt and evil, using a strict code that, in his mind, elevated himself above the other scum.

He exploited every chance he could to test and train his abilities, first leveling smaller gangs using his Telekinesis and Combustion attacks, then using Drain Knowledge and his ability at Dominate Mind to force corrupt officials and businessmen to give him anything and do what he wanted.

Nex rose through the ranks, using his jedi training and ambitious behavior, over the next few years becoming one of Vogga’s top enforcers and assassins on the planet. Everything from collecting debts and sabotaging rival businesses to overseeing business trades (weapons and spice) and bounty hunting, Nex became an influential force for Vogga.

(3,955 – 3,948 BBY) A New Syndicate

Nex eventually used his influence and credits to form his own small gang, Nexus, in the corrupt streets of Nar Shaddaa.

He established his gang in a run down and vacant bar. Soon after he began repairing the building, creating backrooms for gambling and trade deals. Using the bar as a recruiting station his gang began to flourish but never got bigger than fifty members. Each member was personally evaluated by Nex to weed out the corrupt and dishonest, and all were paid handsomely for their services. Those who brought harm to his business were either let go or, in some cases assassinated by Nex depending on the severity of their betrayal.

Nex continued to work side by side with Vogga allowing both to become increasingly rich. Every year Nexus brought in thousands of credits and expanded its business into other sections of crime. Nexus soon relocated to the Jekk’Jekk Tarr following the death of Visquis in 3,951 BBY using his hideout as their base of operations.

Nex hired many men to look over Nexus whenever he left the planet for business related meetings or to participate in various wars or battles that would profit him during the aftermath.

Although ambitious and intimidating he, on many occasions, donated a large sum of money to the refugee sector to help those and others who had nothing. While it didn’t exactly keep him under the radar from other gangs and criminal organizations, it did make him a popular figure head among the refugees and homeless living there. Since the number of people living there increased over time, his donations gave him and Nexus a permanent standing on the planet and increased his reputation as being noble and generous, despite what he did to gain his wealth.

His money was not just spread over the refugee sector on Nar Shaddaa. He was also a supporter various Republic projects throughout the galaxy. Over the years he has done business with many groups including: Czerka, the Exchange, Hutts, Telos Security Force, Queen Talia and Onderon Royalists. Many of his misdeeds went overlooked due to his support of the republic.

(3,947 – 3,756 BBY) Continued Expansion and Business Severance

Following the death of Visquis, Saquesh, and G0-T0, Nex’s wealth spiked dramatically as he took over a good portion of the criminal activity, filling the “void” left behind from the removal of the powerful crime lords. Nex’s increase in credits was spent more on technological advances and improvements to the Jekk’Jekk Tarr and his underground citadel instead of the republic’s projects. Adding a third floor and automated defense systems to his hideout, his property became more of a fortress while still keeping its appeal as a bar/club.

With the war between the sith and the republic relaxing, Nex turned most of his attention from political squabbles and Nexus’s war preparations (if war ever came to Nar Shaddaa), to his training and business related interests.

After upgrades were finished to the Jekk’Jekk Tarr, Nex poured his credits into his ship, the Twilight Nebula. Upgrades to the ship included: better hyperdrives and cargo room, more powerful weapons and shields, a larger navigational computer, and reinforced plating.

To further Nexus’s influence, he sent delegates to more worlds for new promising business transactions. Manaan, Corellia, and Dathomir were the first planets Nex was interested in and his interests proved quite profitable. Shortly after establishing Nexus there somewhat, the Syndicate expanded into two more areas of potential income, shipping kolto off of Manaan and to battle hardened planets, and the sale and distribution of exotic animal to various buyers.

In 3,800 BBY Vogga wanted an even bigger piece of Nex’s profits. Nex refused and started a small war between them permanently severing their relationship. Nex returned to Vogga with five of his best members, they quickly dispatched his mediocre bodyguards and removed his influence from Nar Shaddaa once and for all.

With Vogga gone Nex was free to run the Refugee Sector as he saw fit. He did not take over Vogga’s shipping business however, in order to stay “under their radar” so to speak. With Vogga gone and his influence/business burn to the ground, many smaller and new organizations began to sprout out of the ashes. Keeping them in check, Nex continued to prosper unchallenged for the next forty-four years.

In 3,756 BBY, Nex’s plans came to a halt as the sith began their invasion of the republic yet again.

(3,756 – 3,653 BBY) The Great War

The next one hundred years would prove difficult for Nex as his hand was force on many occasions.

At first everything was going according to planned. Credits were rolling in and business had never been better. Then the sith started their campaign against the republic yet again. Conquering planet after planet, making their way inward, Nex began preparing his Syndicate again if war was to come to Nar Shaddaa. Many of the planets that the sith conquered took away a lot of potential income for Nex. One business deal after another went sour due to sith interference. The destruction of Manaan was the final piece that was needed for Nex to completely side with the republic to help them battle the sith.

He began pouring credits into the republic and war torn worlds to help give them a fighting chance. Every defeat the republic received was a blow to Nex and his Syndicate. With a large portion of his funds gone to the republic he was forced to withdraw his financial support.

He was stuck watching the republic suffer defeat after defeat. For many years he struggled to recapture the funds he once accumulated before the war. His business was cut short on many fronts and soon was forced back down to working his operation on Nar Shaddaa. Though he was crippled, that did not stop him from trying to help every chance he could. He helped ship weapons and supplies to republic troops for little or no gain to himself personally.

Finally instead of sitting by and doing mundane tasks for the republic. Nex left Nar Shaddaa, taking thirty-five of his best fighters and warriors and headed to Coruscant, leaving the remaining fifteen to watch over the Jekk’Jekk Tarr in his absence.

After arriving on Coruscant, the sith attacked leaving Nex and his thirty-five companions to fight their way off the planet. Upon reaching his ship and launching into space the group was reduced to only six people. With the heavy loss of more than half his organization he made his way back to Nar Shaddaa and began to rebuild his small empire.

(3,652 - Present)

Since his arrival back on Nar Shaddaa he has been slowly rebuilding what he has lost, seeking new talent and business opportunities. He has gone back to claiming neutrality after the signing of the treaty.

Personality

Nex is an warrior at heart who takes great pride in his abilities. He prefers blade to blade battles but will pick up a blaster when necessary. He fights for what he believes whether it be good or bad. Nex prefers fighting before diplomacy. Although he may appear intimidating, it does not mean he would not help others. He is ambitious, disciplined, aggressive, loyal, and has a thirst for knowledge.

After he left Coruscant and settled on Nar Shaddaa his personality and motives shifted. He used his Jedi training to make himself a powerful, small-time crime lord.

He provides protection for all his guests regardless of how he feels about them and is determined to keep his word. He detests slavery and refused to engage in it. Nex is fiercely loyal to his personnel and dedicated to their protection. When he gives his word, he is absolutely dedicated to keeping it. He treats his employees extremely well, earning their respect and devotion in turn. He is known as someone who should not be crossed, and his retribution is feared. He will not tolerate any mistreatment of his people whatsoever and extracts heavy punishments for harm done to members of his organization. He does not hire bounty hunters, however, preferring to do his own dirty work. He also has no real desire to ally himself with either side of most Wars, instead playing both sides off each other.

Because Nex can live for quite some time he developed a passion for information and felt it could be a powerful and rewarding asset, resulting in his further education at unarmed combat, force use, and a further source of income selling information to the highest bidder.

Languages

His skill at Drain Knowledge has granted him the ability to converse with many species but he has taken the time to try and learn a few on his own hoping to understand their culture more.

  • Galactic Basic - The language he normally speaks everywhere he goes.
  • Binary - A language he picked up durring his time working with Vogga and running his Syndicate.
  • Mando'a - He has yet to be able to speak Mando'a fluently however he can understand most conversations.
  • Shyriiwook & Thykarann - Finding it almost impossible to speak the wookie language he has devoted time into understanding the various barks, roars, growls, and moans.

Abilities and Powers

Over time he has become a skilled master of lightsaber combat. He is immune to the effects of aging, and has an ability to rapidly regenerate injuries. During his time as a spy and assassin he became quite skilled in the arts of infiltration, being able to slice computers and doors, breaking into secure files and rooms with relative ease while remaining hidden.

Unlike many Jedi who relied heavily on their lightsaber, Nex trained immensely in hand-to-hand combat. Realizing that his lightsaber is a machine, he spent just as long training in hand-to-hand combat as he did with his lightsaber, because just like machines, lightsabers can be broken. Allowing the force flow through his body, he can strike unarmed with expert precision and incredible power.

After setting up Nexus and moving to the Jekk'Jekk Tarr, he hired two Matukai as both bodyguards and teachers to further his ability in unarmed combat. Sharing their wisdom with Nex has sent his talents soaring to new heights as he continues to feed his hunger for knowledge.

Along with learning the core powers such as Force Speed and Telepathy, he specialized in learning four other force powers: Telekinesis, Drain Knowledge, Dominate Mind, and Combustion. Over the course of several years, he developed his skills, becoming a powerful force even without his lightsaber. During his first forty years after arriving on Coruscant he constantly put those powers to use. When he left and settled on Nar Shaddaa, his talents allowed him to become a great influence in the criminal underworld.

Using Combustion allowed him to turn any object into an explosive ranging from the power of a simple frag grenade to a crate filled with thermal detonators.

His use of Drain Knowledge and Dominate Mind proved invaluable against other criminal organizations. Allowing him access to any and all the information he wanted, Nex could easily control the gangs into handing over vast amounts of credits and intel to his organization. Over time, these two powers helped him stay above his enemies and continue to prosper for many years to come.

His power and talent in telekinesis is equal to that of the Zeison Sha. He is able to move objects ranging from small rocks to large boulders. This combined with his talent at Combustion, made for a deadly combination. His telekinetic abilities resulted in many criminals fearing to cross his path, occasionally throwing his enemies through walls and other objects he found in the area.

Equipment

Lightsaber

Nex wields a single blade into battle but over the years has collected a handfull of crystals to use in his lightsaber. One of the crystals he always uses is a Pontite crystal. His blade glows a dark blue, the color of the jedi guardians.

Aratech Echo Belt

The Aratech Echo Belt is a top-of-the-line stealth field generator. The cloaking device did not completely hide its wearer, although spotting him required awareness and great attention. The location of a stealthed target could be determined by heat-waves, like those from fire, and the presence of a silhouette. Years of practice have given him the ability and skill to make himself hard to spot even for defense turrets, and run while stealthed.

Cybernetic Implants

His implants were installed after the removal of Vogga from Nar Shaddaa and have increased his survival capabilities a hundred times over.

  • Cardio Power System: Greatly increased the cardio-vascular recovery rate and pain tolerance of the wearer
  • Navardan Regenerator: An implant that gives the user incredible healing powers, allowing wounds and injuries to heal in mere seconds instead of days or weeks. Combined with Nex's natural healing abilities, he can take extreme amounts of punishment on the battlefield.
  • Skills D-Package: Improves general problem solving and data processing abilities. It allows for a vast increase in the performance quality of skill-related tasks, making it the most valuable implant of its type.
  • Aural Amplifier: Allows Nex to hear from a great distance by amplifying sound waves originating from the direction of Nex's interest while dampening ambient noise.
