Quotes/Mottos

I hide best in plain sight.

Are you going to wave that thing at me all day or are you actually going to SHOOT?

Hold on, guys. This may get a little....rough.

I WILL find him.

Appearance

Like most notable Twi'lek females, Ree'tak is slender and beautiful. Her skin is a creamy-white colour and she sports peircing violet eyes. Trained as a dancer, this is evident in her fluid and graceful movements and she has a slight tendancy towards hyperactivity which can result in almost perpetual motion. Commonly wearing clothes which amplyify her aethetic appeal, this slightly petite but entrancing Twi'lek uses her gender as much as a weapon as she does her blaster pistol.

3,679 BBY - 3,663 BBY: Early Years and Childhood

Ree originally comes from a small community in the continent of Lienru, near the border of the Nightlands; the dark-orbited portion of the planet Ryloth. An orphan, her parents’ identities still remain unknown to her, something which infuriates and intrigues the young Twi’lek in equal measure.

Her earliest memories stem from childhood among many other young Twi’lek girls, all under the guidance and supervision of Haoy Chir’da’tak, a motherly but stern Twi’lek who ran an “orphanage”. Groomed from a young age to be a dancer and courtesan of sorts, Ree’s sheltered lifestyle meant that she knew no different and would have grown into the same service as most of Chir’da’tak’s ‘dancing girls’.

3,662 BBY: The allure of Swoop Racing

A turning point in her life came in the form of a Swoop Racer that was dragged into their small community for repairs. The pilot was unharmed but the vehicle itself would take some time to repair. Ree (then aged 16) found not only the pilot but the vehicle itself truly fascinating and would sneak away from her duties in the orphanage at every given opportunity to study them both, listening to great and fantastical stories of dangerous high-speed pod races out in the Nightlands. Two weeks after its arrival when the swoop-racer and its pilot were due to leave, Ree collected some basic belongings and hid aboard the swoop-racer. By the time the pilot (whom she would later discover was called “Daron Sharn, a ‘Human’) discovered his passenger they were already deep within the Nightlands at one of the many illegal swoop-races among the beautiful but dangerously distracting ‘crystal forests’.

Knowing that it would be too time consuming to return Ree to her village – especially if he was to make the race – Daron kept Ree around but on the provision that she helped keep the Swoop clean, refueled and ready to go. To her, this seemed like an entire different life, and she readily agreed. After the race (in which Daron did not win, but came a respectful third) Ree requested that she might remain with Daron who had begun to notice some of the other racers noticing his “attractive young friend”. Daron, who recognized the usefulness of keeping an attractive twi’lek at his side but also worried to her welfare should he turn her away, agreed.

The two became good friends over the next few months until Daron was due to head off-world and refused to take Ree with him. Her dreams shattered, Ree accepted her fate but said she wished to remain at the swoop-racing.

3,662 BBY - 3,657 BBY: Leaving Ryloth

Though he never said where he was going, nor his reasons why; Daron came to realize he respected the young Twi’lek and her spirit. Before he left, he entrusted his Swoop-Racer into her care (making it official with the race organizers), gave her his spare sidearm and wished her luck (also secretly arranging a couple of the more reliable racers to watch out for her in his absence). Then, he was gone. Ree never saw the human again but still acknowledges he gave her the start in life she so desperately needed. In the following four and a half years Ree learned to pilot the Swoop-Racer she had been given and even became adept at it.

In time, she became more than adept; her natural dexterity coupled with her quick reactions made her into a good pod-racer and she slowly began to make money in the races. The “sponsor” of the races, a Twi’lek crime-lord called Rethic Zall (part of the Karaffgar Crime Syndicate) noticed Ree’tak and her abilities and watched her career in pod-racing unfold. Whilst she was becoming a well-known racer on the local circuit, she didn’t seem to spending out on her winnings, something Zann found odd until Ree came to him shortly after her 20th birthday saying that she would like to retire from the swoop-racing business, and asked him for a loan to purchase a starship leaving her pod-racer and almost all of her winnings to date as a deposit. Sad to see her leave (which should be interpreted as ‘sorry to see a source of revenue dry up’) Zall nevertheless provided Ree with a 23,000 credit loan which she used to purchase and re-fit a second-hand Gthrok 720 freighter.

Within a month, Ree had the ship ready for space-flight and had purchased a basic Astromech Droid for co-piloting purposes. She left her home of Ryloth behind and headed starward with the purpose of finding her old friend, Daron Sharn………..

Personality

Ree'tak's personality is a little confusing and contractictory - even to her. On one hand she is a young woman who has been forced to grow up a little too quickly and has become mature in the ways of the galaxy. She is hard-working and industrious, always able to force her hand in almost everything she puts her mind to. A proficient pilot and smuggler, she is exceptionally serious when the situation demands it, taking on an almost robotic calm in the face of danger and great pressure.

Then conversely, there is her other side; that of the Twi'lek that never quite grew up. The mischevious, playful and frequently spiteful side of her persona that has been abandoned and hurt one too many times yet still possesses the capability to trust in the right circumstances.

A maelstrom of confusion, others find her irratic and often difficult to read, yet she can show a terrorfying clarity when the situation demands.

Languages

Though she would like to learn more languages (and is always trying to), Ree does not have a flair for such things and has problems learning the languages of other species

  • Galactic Basic
  • Ryul

Talents

  • PILOT: From Swoop-Racers to Starships, Ree'tak has an almost intuitive understanding of machines that comes close to force-sensitivity. She loves to pilot all kinds of vehicles and relishes the chance to do so.
  • DECEPTIVE: If there is one thing Ree'tak is a master of, it is mis-direction. She is incredibly skilled at allowing people to only see what she wishes them to see, using a combination of guile, slight of hand, persuasion and mild seduction to divert them away from her true objective.
  • SMUGGLER: Ree is a compitent smuggler who is picking up the trade with confidence and vigor. While she still has a lot to learn, she's learning it very fast indeed.
  • PISTOLEER: Ree is as sharp with a blaster pistol as she is her tongue. Despite many of her companions over the years trying to teach her different side-arms, Ree'tak remains faithful to the pursuit of perfection with a blaster pistol.
