Setsuna Andal is a former Sith acolyte and daughter of Sith Seer Kelna (Kaosis) Andal and Master Healer Riorden Delmon of the Jedi. She is also the half sister of Bladeborn Sharlina aka Istara Andal.

Appearance

"I don't care if you're bruised up somewhere or scarred up. To me, you're the most beautiful thing I've ever seen..." - Marik Fatir to Setie.

Upon first meeting her Setie strikes one as childlike. Though medium in height she has a built that makes her seem skinny and fragile. She is very much made for speed and not for brute force.

Setie also however does not seem made for stealth and guile at first either. Her emotions are always on her face for all to see unless she makes a heavy effort to hide them. Emerald eyes and a curling mane of copper colored hair make her hard to forget, as does her sometimes ungraceful nature. In a fight however, she seems to dance which makes one ponder where the clumsiness comes from. Recently her clothes run on the big side, along with her hiding her face under a scarf and cowl. This leads many to think she is a teenage boy instead of a woman in her early twenties.

History

A Child on Korriban

"That girl is without a doubt the worst Sith I've ever heard of!" - Various people concerning Setie.

Setie was told she was the only daughter of Kaosis Andal of the Sith Empire. She never knew her father though she was told she is a lot like him once by her mother. She was raised on Korriban even though the Sith Lords of the Temple frowned on it. Kaosis was able to convince them to leave Setie be on the grounds that she would more then likely grow into a force sensitive and be strong in the dark side from living on Korriban. This worked well enough that Setie was even allowed around the Fatir twins Janelle and Marik, who were something of a pet project of the Emperor's. At least until Janelle was promoted to the rank of Darth and the pair started going out on missions.

While Setie did grow into a powerful force adept; the Sith teachings and her own kind nature did not mix well. With the Lord General Darmuk watching her Kaosis started to become fearful of what the Council would do to both herself and her daughter. Desperation had her pushing Setie harder then the rest of her students. However in her own way Kaosis also favored Setie, constantly sparring her the harsher and more deadly punishments the students got. Instead Kaosis took to beating Setie when she failed. This went on for some time with Setie only fighting back once, resulting in a burn scar on her face from her own mother's lightsaber.

Finally Darmuk had enough. While sitting in on a duel to the death between Setie and another student who had been lacking he saw first hand the daughter's dislike of killing. It was decided that if Setie was not embracing all her teachings, the failure must be with Kaosis, her master.

While returning from an errand Setie spotted her mother being lead away and followed. She spied on the meeting between Kaosis and Darmuk using the very teachings and abilities she had been taught. After watching her mother be executed and hearing the order that she be brought before him. Setie managed to escape onto a ship bound for Coruscant much to Darmuk's aggravation.

Life in the Shadows

"How did you get back here? I remember you just dropping off from the face of the planet without even a 'goodbye' to me after your mom... you know." "When she got executed? You can say it." - Marik and Setie talking of Kaosis's death and Setie's disappearance.

While on Coruscant Setie befriended a handful of people. Touren Darish, who taught Setie the basics of flying being one. Sparky the Red Star Cantina droid being another. Damaya Kooladi, Puk, and Ydde being another trio she befriended and helped.

Mostly, Setie managed to stay undercover, until a dying mechanic stumbled into the Red Star. In an effort to help save him, Setie used her Force Resuscitation, snatching the poor man from death at the expense of her cover. Desperate to get off planet, she cut a deal with Damaya, Puk, and Ydde that if she helped break the miraluka's ship out of impound, he would drop her off on another planet after wards.

The breakout went poorly at first. Assault droids beat the group up pretty badly, causing Setie to injure herself greatly carrying the full grown yuzzum. Along with Damaya being poisoned by sith assassins and the ship's engine having problems the group was lucky to escape.

When the group landed on a remote space station that belonged to a friend of Damaya's though things went worse for Setie. She was ambushed by an HK droid and taken back to Korriban after it froze the others with a cyroban grenade. Thrown in a cell in the Crysallis Outpost Setie feared the worst; until she met the overlord of the base, Zelkin Infinium aka Marik Fatir.

Reuniting with the Fatirs

"Would you walk into the night after him though? Surely he'll be treading paths you never dared walk. Doing things you never had the stomach to. Would you throw your own soul into the dark after him? All for some feeling neither of you understand?" - Kaosis through the Force to Setie about Marik.

Unaware of Zelkin's plans and happy to have things going her way for once, Setie stayed at the Outpost with Zelkin and his cohorts. Things heated up quickly between the old friends even though Setie knew there was something going on that Marik was not telling her. She was however helpful in things, often giving advice to others about their troubles and learning to build her own saber. While there an injured Bladeborn was brought into the base, Sharlina. Setie first befriended then learned Soresu from the Blademaster. At one point their shared bloodline came out, much to the confusion of each, though both seem to be taking it in stride.

Soon after though Crysallis Outpost was attack by a small group of mandolorians and jedi, lead by Janelle Fatir. Setie was in for a rude awakening as she found out her lover's sister was not only alive, but that her dear Marik was planning something horrible.

However, hoping she could help her love, Setie decided to stay at the base instead of escaping with Janelle, Damaya, and the others. In the mild confusion after the battle, she ambushed and kidnapped Zelkin, taking him to Dantooine in an effort to understand why he was planning such things.

Prelude to Infinity

"What's more important is your time now, and not one that's passed." - Torim Fatir

Marik and Setie's arrival on Dantooine was not a joyous affair for either. Talks on the way resulting in fights and the shattering of the void prism pendant Marik had given Setie. While the love was there on both sides there was a definite wall between them. Despite the wall the pair tried to work things out and Setie continued to grow in leaps and bounds. Learning some Ataru from Marik himself while being tutored in Makashi by the spirit of Torim Fatir. She came to some kind of terms with the beatings she endured from her mother after a duel, where she fought Kaosis after the elder Andal possessed a spy Darmuk had sent to tail Marik. Setie also learned the identity of her father and that he was currently still alive, though unaware he fathered a child.

Though Marik and Setie were on better terms leaving Dantooine, and talking some about marriage. They had not really settled the matter of Marik's plans.

An Uncertain Role

"You are important to my existence, Setsuna Andal. More than you will know, perhaps..." - Zelkin Infinium

Upon arrival at the rendezvous point for the Infinite Armada, Setie was reunited with her sister. She hinted to her sister that she had a plan to stop Zelkin's mad scheme of destroying the force. She did not tell Sharlina that her plan was dangerous and would possibly kill her.

During the fighting Setie managed to convince Sharlina to help her hi-jack an automated cruiser from the Yinran Corporation forces stationed around the Fate Shatter. She then drew attention to the pair of them in two ways. Attacking armada ships, and using her own Battle Meditation to bolster coalition forces. This put her in a sort of mental battle with Van Fanle, who had been using his to help the Armada.

After causing enough havoc Van was sent to collect the wayward sisters. Setie shocked her sister in disabling and then loading the Bladeborn into an escape pod before peacefully turning herself over to Van. Zelkin's helper escorted her back to the Shatter and imprisoned her for Zelkin to speak to later, though a number of incidents on the way ended in Setie being placed under maximum security.

When Zelkin arrived to talk to her, Setie was horrified to find almost nothing left of her beloved Marik. It made her further sick to her stomach to be told that she was effectively the deciding factor in the conflict. If she killed Zelkin, she would go on to become a monster herself feeding off the force like Darth Nihilus did centuries ago. However if she let him live he would destroy the Force as he wanted to.

Knowing her Marik was lost to her nearly broke Setie completely sending her on a rampage through the Shatter that almost resulted in Sharlina's death when the Bladeborn showed up to free her sister. Barely clinging to a small hope that fixing everything would give her Marik back Setie faced off against Zelkin, giving him one more chance to stop his own madness. When he refused she stripped him of the Force, using her own life to power the ability when she would have lost it. The rather complex technique and usage of the force caused a large number of wounds to her physically resulting in her passing out from blood loss as well as black veins appearing on her face. A sign of dark side abuse even though Setie was using the drain ability on herself.

She was dragged off the ship by Sharlina after the Bladeborn found Janelle Fatir dragging the girl through the corridors and had a minor confrontation with Imperial forces sent out to arrest traitor Sith.

Shattered

"We are no different then you are. We love, we hate, we bleed, and...we die." - Setie about Force users.

When Setie regained consciousness she was on a renegade cruiser called the Stormhawk with her sister. Though Sharlina updated her sister about the Shatter exploding and no one knowing the fate of one Zelkin Infinium Setie was able to piece together that Marik was completely lost to her now.

Though the two sisters had a few friends on the mostly hostile ship, they were quickly asked to leave after an altercation between Setie and a mechanic almost ended in her killing him. They were dropped off on Tatooine and soon ran into some friends of Sharlina's, The Order of the Bladeborn.

Most of the Bladeborn seemed to accept Setie and all were happy to see Sharlina. Setie specifically formed a fast friendship with Ona, the empathic bothan healer. After Setie used her Force Resuscitation to save herself from a snake that took an interest in her, her welcome quickly turned cold.

She was effectively imprisoned in her room by Grandmaster Trugoy. The diminuative master explaining that due to her abilities and orders from the Emperor she was to be kept caged. Though Setie quickly learned not everyone agreed with Trugoy when Mama lizard paid her a visit.

All during this time however she was out of contact with Sharlina and comments from Trugoy had Setie believing Sharlina was in on the whole plot to imprison her. So when confronted with a sister so happy it was bubbling off her, Setie verbally tore into Sharlina and almost getting physically violent with her sister again.

Afterward Setie had one last visitor before breaking out and escaping. Sharlina's lover Idjit came pleading for Setie to save her sister, who had grievously injured herself after matters. Setie though refused to heal Sharlina, believing that it would reinforce the chain Trugoy said her involuntary ability of force bonds turned Sharlina into something of a slave. Idjit however believed Setie's refusal was from jealousy of Sharlina suddenly being happy while Setie herself was miserable and in mourning over Marik.

Which was truth and lie had been left unanswered by Setie for now. She broke out and escaped the Bladeborn base while the warriors were distracted over a struggle between Trugoy and Mama for leadership. Stealing a swoop bike that she then sold before sneaking onto a random freighter as a stow away. She has since been on the move, even selling her lightsaber (minus the crystals) to keep some money on herself in case she needs it. She has also taken to hiding her face in a hood and scarf, since the black marks on her face identify her easily.

Personality

"Setie is a better person than almost anyone I have ever met." - Sharlina about Setie.

Due to the mental and physical beatings from her mother for failing her lessons. Setie has obvious self esteem issues. Always assuming the worst if she is asked to do something and commonly putting herself down.

Setie has a surprisingly open and soft heart for a sith. Many people wonder if she is just putting on an act, but as far as anyone can tell it is simply how Setie is. Few people realize that Setie is highly empathic. A fact that gets her into trouble. Everyone though wonders how she managed to survive growing up on Korriban while staying such a way.

Setie is not however without faults. She is disturbingly loyal and loving to everyone, which has her divided when said people fight. She also has a short temper and is prone to violence when angry.

Though a force user herself, Setie has a fear of both sith and jedi. Thinking that both live by the philosophy that if you are not with one you must be with the other. Setie herself is not part of either, making an enemy of both.

Recently there have been hints of another side of Setie. An icy, ruthless, and frightening side that thinks nothing of tormenting and destroying others. For now Setie seems to be repressing this darker side of her, though Sharlina and Kaosis both fear what will happen if something sets it off.

Powers and Abilities

"Maybe you haven't noticed but I'm not proficient in anything remotely sith-like." - Setie to Damaya Kooladi.

Since Setie was being trained as an assassin. She has learned some of the art of stealth. Though her luck (or the Force) does not always hold out due to her somewhat ungraceful nature. She did however manage to use Force Cloak to escape Korriban after her mother's murder and also used it to follow Marik Fatir around his own base.

Setie has also been training herself in Art of the Small, to better elude jedi and sith that she runs into. She is not a master of it though. It takes heavy concentration and time to pull it together. Room enough for any jedi or sith in the area to pick up on her.

One place Setie has excelled in was the body. Both with traditional first aid and with various force abilities. She is slowly mastering the use of Force Resuscitation, even at her young age.

Though her healing abilities can almost rival a Master's and her sneaking abilities are moderate. Setie's combat abilities were abysmal. Setie has however mastered the art of unarmed combat. Combined with her Force Resuscitation ability this make her a threat if she manages to get in close on her opponent. A difficult thing to do in a universe of blasters and melee weapons.

Since meeting her sister and the ghost of Torim Fatir though, Setie has managed to learn two forms of saber combat. She also showed during her Ataru lessons with Marik that one of the reasons she fumbled behind in combat lessons was that she tried doing moves without the Force at first. She believed that doing this would cause her enemies to underestimate what she could do. Since she believes her connection with the force is sporadic it also seemed best never to count completely on it. With the loss of her saber though she has taken to using lightsaber forms with the knife Sharlina gave her.

Lord General Darmuk however explained to the Sith Council that Setie's force connection is odd and shines the brightest when the odds against Setie are higher. He also stated she had a gift with force bonds, unconsciously pulling people around her that can defend her.

Her final ability was a side affect of her mother's beatings. Having been abused most of her life, Setie can take more of a beating then most force users and is highly resistant to torture.

"I know you must be flustered, thinking of me like that, but that won't answer my questions." "Wow, a sith with a sense of humor. The Force works in mysterious ways." Aggadesh and Setie after he tries probing her mind only to get an image of big, hairy, sweaty, and naked men.

"If you don't come back though, I'm going to find your spirit and nag you until the stars stop shining got it?" To Marik after being convinced to stay behind and rest.

"Do something, even if it's the wrong thing, because apathy is death." To herself while fretting over learning to use a lightsaber.

"Fate might drag you where ever it wants to. You however have the free will to leave and reject what fate tries to force upon you. It's never easy though, which is why people have a habit of clinging to destinies and fates so much. It's a rare thing to be a person who can carve their own path instead of letting fate carve it for them." To Odet when she hears Odet wasn't asked to be a Sith.

Comments from the Creator

Setie's mannerisms are slightly stolen from Captain Jack Sparrow of Pirates of the Caribbean. Like Sparrow, she appears a bumbling fool to all, until her plots come to pass in which then she appears a diabolical genius. The best example of this is her "escape" and "capture" during the Infinium Conflict, where everyone assumed she was betraying Zelkin when in reality she was simply getting Sharlina to go to Janelle on the other side of the battle.

Setie's creator had a number of songs that she feels apply to Setie. The Diary of Jane, Until The End, and Unknown Soldier by Breaking Benjamin along with Last of the Wilds by Nightwish for when Setie is in a combat situation. Taylor Swift's You're Not Sorry (either version) and Mourning by Tantric are played the most when writing quieter scenes for Setie.

Setie's saber was inspired by two different characters who used swords. Kadaj from Final Fantasy 7's Advent children inspired the saber as a whole. While the splitting part of the blades was inspired by Zuko's broadswords from the show Avatar: The Last Airbender.
